I see what you did there lol

it is a bit much to take in at first site, when I first saw this thing, I was like Subaru and Fiesta had a love child. 20's? really 20's? you know that's the first thing most people will be changing on this car.

Honda: Brings back the NSX, releases the Civic Type R worldwide.
Complaints.

Everyone is going to complain no matter what, and those people will never be buying the car anyway. Good job Honda first and foremost for producing a car like this. I'd like to see how it stacks up against the competition.
I agree.

Reminds me back in 2003 when I bought my AP2, people were bashing it because the 350Z, G35, etc were much better cars. Those same people were doing nothing but window shopping anyways. Same can be said about the FRS/BRZ.

Lol what?! The Iroc G and 350Z were absolute **** from day one. People jocking them because they had more power perhaps? Because the AP2 was the superior vehicle in every way in my opinion. I remember doing my internship with Nissan at 18 and taking out a Nismo'd 350Z and was disappointed almost immediately.

same here, drove the g35 brembo pack when it came out, as well as an STI and the S2k, regret not getting the S.

IIRC, way more 350Zs were sold and a lot of people back used to compared 1/4 mile times.

One area the S2000 was never superior was its aero but that's probably it.

That was more or less solved with the CR, but then we'd be talking specialty models like the Nismo 350Z/370Z.

So is the 10hp difference between the US and EU versions just in the way that power is rated between the two? From what I read this morning it is supposed to be the exact same engine and gearbox as the outgoing one, with the only exception being that the US version has a shorter final drive and lighter flywheel. Not that it really matters. I'm more excited about the fact that it has a multilink rear instead of the torsion beam setup in the last EU version. I also read that since the Type R was planned for this chassis from the beginning, it has 38% more torsional rigidity. They say that it's actually going to be a little lighter than the standard civic hatch's 3000lbs thanks to some aluminum buts, but I'm a little doubtful of that. From the little bit I've seen the interior looks a lot better than the last one as well.

I'm still not a big fan of the "Hey! Look at me!" styling, or the massive wheels, but I can get over those things if the car lives up to its performance potential. I can't wait to get behind the wheel of one.

What is the reasoning behind the 20" wheels? Bigger brakes? Civics on 15"s don't have too much of problem holding 300 crank horsepower. I think 18s would have been the better option here. Probably better tire options in that range as well.

Hopefully there will be an aftermarket body kit that actually tones the exterior down a couple notches.

He's right, people dogged the S2K and any VTEC Honda for all sorts of stupid reasons. Even in the ITR forum people were complaining about not having a V6 back in the day.

"Roots" in the relative sense, regarding a lower weight, moderate horsepower, fun to drive car. The original Type R formula. I understand this works for the current generation of buyers, fanboys, and track junkies (or bench racers, mostly), but Honda's original formula worked. As amazing as this car is, I wouldn't buy it.Definitely not at $40k.
well, good thing it's not $40k. But...show me the other 300hp land missiles in this class that are cheaper? It's not like it's overpriced.

Lower weight? This will be the lightest car in its class by far.

Moderate horsepower? The ITR's HP wasn't moderate for the time...the B18C5 made as much power as V6s and almost some V8s of the same era.

We only look at the old 8,000rpm cars as "moderate" because now we're in the turbo era.

A variation of the K20C1 engine.

Even the new NSX has single exhaust ports.

It is what it is

You think anyone over the age of 24 will buy this and not feel like a total bag of dicks every time they hop out and have twenty bro's humping their leg?

You think anyone under the age of 24 can afford a $40k civic?

I think this car is on the same boat as the current STI. Which is also ~40k and just as loud

It'll be interesting but I don't think people in the 20s will be drooling over this car like we used to with the ITR.

And yes, I'm out of my 20s and i'm considering to buy this car. I'll probably wait a few years for the MMC. Plus I want to see what the aftermarket does. I'm sure some exterior mods will clean up the ricer look.

Might sound weird but I always dreamed of owning a championship white + type-r car.

But honda isn't subaru. It is clear they have really lost the roots of what the Type R designation stood for. Ford was able to pull off a hot hatch that a 40 something wouldn't mind driving, and Honda has alienated every enthusiast over the age of 24 with their desire to design a car that SCREAMS "Hey...look at me, please LOOK at me". What happened to the Honda that said "Ohhh, don't mind me, I can take care of myself".

Do they even make 20" low profile racing tires that wouldn't cost the owner 2 months salary to afford?

I'm not the best Honda guru but I believe they've made some white pearl Type-Rs before so I wouldn't be surprised.. If they don't bring the CW at all then i'll probably skip the CTR
