Lol at comment on reddit.

"
What in the world will the aftermarket be able to do for this car? Honda set some sort of record here and included every boy racer mod ever as factory equipment!
It's got a ridiculous front lip, rear lip, red stripes, carbon fiber, overdone diffuser, hilarious exhaust, HUGE wing, fake vents, striped carbon side skirts, Evo-style roof fins, etc. There's nothing left to do!

Honda: S2000 goes out of production, doesn't build anything for the enthusiasts.
Complaints.
Honda: Brings back the NSX, releases the Civic Type R worldwide.
Complaints.

Everyone is going to complain no matter what, and those people will never be buying the car anyway. Good job Honda first and foremost for producing a car like this. I'd like to see how it stacks up against the competition.

Hmmmm... if you want a $40k Honda, why not go find a 2008 S2000 CR?

This is FWD, correct? Fail.

Complaints because the new NSX/CTR are shells of their former iterations as to why they were great

Srs.

The CTR will come standard with navigation?! Previous type R's had to option in A/C and radios in an effort to save weight. And 20" wheels? Cmon, this isnt a Type R. Its a Hype R.

I was somewhat waiting on this thing and eyeing my first new car purchase but after seeing what this thing will actually be, no thanks!

It just looks ridiculous and 20s, come on man!

Seriously this is the **** you present to the world after all the simple yet functional Type R's of the past?
They look "simple yet functional" now, but at the time people saw it a lot differently.

How is this any uglier? It will also perform a lot better.

This is true. BUT tell me how a car without a Radio or AC or any of today's creature comforts will compete with the Ford Focus RS and other competition out there in TODAY's market. Time's have changed.

Honda: "Sorry, our $35k Civic doesn't have any AC or Radio".
Forums: Oh but why would I buy that when the RS has Navigation.
Honda: "The Civic Type R comes with Navigation"
Forums: A little too late Honda. Get with the times Honda.

Can never please anybody. The Type R can never be what it was in the 90s. Those cars will always be special for what they were. Time to write a new chapter and move forward.

Yup.

The last CTR is quicker than an M4 around the 'ring. Unless you are solely talking about subjective things like sound and looks, this is a pretty stupid comment.

You are correct the looks are subjective. I find it to be un-attractive.

I would bet money it will not perform much if any better.

You're attempting to argue semantics again.

"Roots" in the relative sense, regarding a lower weight, moderate horsepower, fun to drive car. The original Type R formula. I understand this works for the current generation of buyers, fanboys, and track junkies (or bench racers, mostly), but Honda's original formula worked. As amazing as this car is, I wouldn't buy it.Definitely not at $40k.

For all of those saying the previous Type Rs were subtle

YALL NEED TO STAHP

A yellow civic hatchback is equivalent back in the 90s as now as far as "loudness" is concerned with the 2018 CTR mmk
