Default 2013: Cars that are extinct, and those that endure

I did a similar thread years ago, about certain common cars that seemed to be disappearing, and those that surprisingly remain road bound. Not counting trucks, and Jeeps, those are pretty solid from a mechanical standpoint.

This might change by location but as far as I see...

Cars that seem to be disappearing that were once common:

DA Integra. Took a while, but barely see any of these.

MK3 VW's

Strangely enough all other models persist. SRT's all wrecked by kids?

Strangely, I see more of the 93-97 version.

Dont know of any reason, but these are gone

I barely even see base models, let alone turbos.

Done

Along with this: Maybe all the trannies died? See more of the older model, and even its not common

Gone

Not seeing GT's. They were all over when I got into cars. Still see random 4cyl models in various states of beatery.

I dont even know when I last saw one of these

Same as above

Cars that remain on roads, despite age, make and/or model:

I still see so many of these. 95% are ultra rusty, but they are still common.

Considering what it is, I'm surprised these are still common along with its twin Sable

Very common, but damn they are old.

But other than Caravan, its the only mid- 90's Mopar CAR (non truck) commonly on the roads.

Age is impressive

How do these still run?

Age. But common.

How?

Last time, I remember posting the 91-96 as disappearing, now this model is remaining. Age wise its not surprising they run, but it is an Escort

Maybe these have magic oil? They seem to rack up miles despite being such huge POS's.

I still see a lot of early 90's Celica ST/GTs which amaze me.

Used to see a lot of these. But I can't remember the last time I saw one now:

Qft

A lot of people traded in their PoS when cash for clunkers came around. Even if they didnt qualify for the full rebate on some of those.

Most of those are spot on, really hard to see anymore except maybe the 02+ Acura tl.

Agree with the whole first post. Kind of sad to not see these anymore, even if most of them are shitty. I don't drive much, but it's kind of sad to think that you haven't seen certain cars in at least a year, and may never again.

These were sold for a couple years as the Malibu Classic while the newer last-gen Malibu was also being sold. Why? No clue, it sucked. But point is, they may not be quite as old as you think.

Late 80s/early 90s Hondas? They were on a roll back then.

A Vette was making 240hp while a B16 was making 160hp.

Fast forward about two decades, the last hatchback Si has 160hp, stripped of it's DW, heavier and cost more.

I see all of these pretty regularly (minus the caliber, I think I've seen less than 10 in person.)

Used to see a lot of these. Not anymore. My friend's sister used to have one. I think that was 1979.

These are cars that used to be a dime a dozen, but that are now very rare.

Go out to the sticks. Whenever I travel out to western MD, I see tons of them when I stop to get gas out in the boonies.

They brought out that fail mini-truck in place of the Neon, and the model died.

I still see a good amount of SRT4 Neons. More than I would expect actually. Within a 3 mile circumference of where I live I know of 5 SRT4s actually. 2 blue. 2 red. 1 orange.

Funny this came up. I didn't have my time to grab a pic but yesterday while I was turning to get on the highway a perfect, unmolested SRT4 being driven by a 30 something woman went by me going the other direction. I seldom see them anymore here and when you do it's either beat to ratshit or domestic rice.
