Default 13 years ago, almost to the day, Honda-Tech lost THEFiJiMAN.

I was digging through some old posts and came across the story of Zach Dunlap, FijiMan. Zach was a great kid, and was just 21 years old when he passed.

Im writing this as a reminder to never take life for granted. Id known Zach on H-T for several years, and he lived no more than 30 miles from me. He and I would message each other, joking back and forth about cars, life, etc. He even helped me to find a buyer for an old Civic of mine. The one regret that I have about knowing Zach was that I blew him off. Constantly. He kept asking me to go hang out with him, and for whatever asinine reason back then, Id always find a way to say no. I would make up excuses, or ignore him. Id keep on chatting back and forth, but I just didnt value real friends as much back then.

I regret that to this day.

I never knew Zach personally, and thats entirely my fault. He loved Honda-Tech and its members, even making his H-T avatar part of his headstone.

Again, the friends you make on here can make a lasting impact. Id encourage folks to reach out, get to know people in real life, and be good to one another, because you never know.

I sometimes wonder how many people are no longer with us on here. 19 years is a long time (2000-2019), even though it sometimes doesn't seem like it.

It really is just staggering to think about. It's a very long time. I'm in my mid-30s now, and looking back through Zach's posts is like time-travel. I just didn't grasp how truly young he was back then... how young all of us were.

It is crazy to think about. One of the people that convinced me to finally create a H-T account (Alex Edge) passed away several years ago.

Is that a quote from one of his posts? I looked but wasn't able to find it.

I'm not sure I recall that user name, RIP! Sad.

Just this week it will be 15 years since losing by best friend, sad to see people go so young.

Aaron, we all do stupid things we don't realize have the impact they do when we're young.
It's only when we're older that we have the experience and wisdom to look back and try to correct and learn from those mistakes.

You're not a bad person.

Yeah, this hits close to home and I know what it's like to lose someone you love/care for. Hopefully he is in a better place now and his family is peace.

Was this the guy who died in a car accident or am I thinking of someone else?

I think that was Coke in a can...but that might have been a motorcycle accident. Can't remember.

He had Crohns disease and various complications IIRC.

Makes it even more sad to me that he had to live with that disease.

That was a motorcycle incident a few years back. The one I recall pretty vividly was Andrea_Aunie. I had spoken to her on AIM only a few days before. That was back in 2003.

We also had a guy pass who had cancer too, correct?

Seems like a lot in those early years of the forum when people used to hang out and talk outside of here. Now...who knows who's no longer here.
