Icon6 Your take on new internals for my B18C

I'm currently running a B18C1 block with a B16 head. I have a T3/T4 turbo @ 9 lb.'s of boost with stock internals besides crower cams and AEM cam gears.

I'm slowly going to start saving money for new internals so that I can push more boost but would like your take on what to get. So far here's what I am thinking: JE Pistons, Eagle Rods, BlockGuard, ARP Head Studs, Skunk2 Pro-Series Valve Springs and titanium retainers, HKS head gasket.

Is there anything I am overlooking or any suggestions you guys have? I've never messed with internals before so I'm going to try and learn along the way.

how much power are you looking to make? you dont need a block guard there are plenty of people running stock sleeves without block guards. Im making 412hp now on stock sleeves. What kind of t3/t4 turbo are you runing? there are many diffrent turbos that fall under t3t4. like is it a 57 trim or 60trim? As far as the head gasket i would go oem.

I would like to make 450-500whp. I've heard from some that block guards are worthless and some people swear by them, so I'm not sure which way to go. Also, my turbo is a 57 trim and it's an eBay brand for now. I was told by someone else to go with an OEM head gasket too, is there really no benefit with an aftermarket one?

Thanks for all your help.

Ditto. No need for the block guard, it won't guard **** lol
And why an HKS HG? OEM is fine with ARP head studs.

I was told by a friend that the OEM headgasket would fail above 400 hp...glad I asked here. More money to put towards a GT35R.

Ive seen oem headgaskets make close to 900. I know for sure for 3 and a half years an oem headgasket held up on our 700 race car. Dont be afraid to use it my friend.

No blockguard, use OEM HG

Everything else is fine, just make sure you get a good tune and take that $275 you just saved and put it towards a non egay turbo.

What Crower Cams do you have? You will more than likely be better off with OEM GSR or ITR Cams.......

I have the Crower Stage 2 Forced Induction cams. Yeah I really need a new turbo, but until I have new internals this one will do.

Ditch those cams, you will probably be better off in the long run with OEM Cams, what are you using to tune the car? What ECU or system?

A good .57 trim is about of out steam at 450hp, I dont think I would have to guts to spin an ebay turbo that hard even if I hated my engine.

Hondata S300.

What's wrong with those cams compared to the OEM GSR cams?

Turbo Cams typically suck on VTEC Engines, dont really feel like getting into the details, all this info can be found using the search feature of this site.

try and swap them for a set of CTR or ITR cams or even GSR cams. im at 510 on pump gas with CTR cams and stock sleeves, the motor has iver 15k miles on it and countless passes with no issues.

Well, the turbo is not really going to do any damage to the engine if it fails. Say it does blow to pieces, I don't think it will do any harm. Only thing I could see is if the oil seals leak so badly that oil is spit into the engine causing detonation because of the low octane rating of oil.

by out of steam he mean out of breath. that turbo is only good for 450hp meaning at that point your breathing hot air. hes not saying the turbo will blow up literally
