Default y7 vs y8 head turbod...

A friend boosted his car and he has told me there is more compression in y8 then y7. Is this true and how much? Is it caused by VTEC? Also, he said you could run a thicker gasket to lower compression. Has anyone done this? He then began to tell me how his boosted y7 head ran better then y8 head (lost to SRT-4 with y8 then won with a y7 head). I was curious if anyone has ever heard of this or knows anything about it. Thanks.

Are you for real?

So your saying.....that with the same setup(one with y8 head and one with y7 head) this guy won with y7?

I hope I didn't brain my damage!

Yes. So does anybody have any personal expierence or any reasoning as to why this may be possible?

Driver error. There's not going to be that much of a difference between heads, but the Y8 should have a little more power and breath better up top.

FYI, VTEC does not increase compression

Agreed. You can really base one race each and tell if a part changed a car that much. Its like in an experiment you can change mulitple variables and get accurate data out of it.

Either way I would think the y8 would flow better since that is the whole point of vtec (better head flow up top).
