WTF did i do? Help, no boost no clue
Hey guys, here's what i did and what I have now.
stock d16 mini me
t3t4 garrett 10 psi
Ran great for about a month.
Hooked up a catch can,I am thinking the wrong way. from crank case to charge pipe with can between.
Next day I raced a GSX, must have been stock because I won. Revved it really high and my tune was set to 7400 limit, (higher than stock).
Smelling oil and still running smooth not in boost. Popped the hood to find oil sprayed all over the under hood. Cylinder 4 spark wire popped out and oil sprayed from it. To much pressure.
I put the mini breather back on and removed the oil can. No more leak from valve cover plug gaskets.
Under boost it seems to break up and almost bog out especially at 5K. When it first started I was set to 8 psi and the data-logger read 6.4 psi.
Runs great not in boost and getting good mpgs.
A week later I am not sure what the psi is but I know its less than 6 with less power.
What could I have fucked up to cause this? Over revving? To much pressure in the crank case?
Also their is a port on the top middle of my IM right before it bolts up to the head, it is capped off. What is that for and where is it suppose to go? It's not the pcv. Come to think of it I don't even know if its a vac line, assuming it is though because it is on the IM under and in front of the injectors. It is twice the size port compared to fuel press regulator vac line.

Was this car ever tuned? Do a leak down test . And id your getting less boost most likely you have a boost leak.

So you hooked up a line from the back of your block to the charge pipe? If so this is (was) your problem. You would have actually created more pressure in the motor than before. Having a line from your crankcase breather to your charge pipe was only letting boost go through the line back into the block... your charge pipes should be sealed off completely, the lines for your breather setup should come from your block or valve cover to a catch can with a filter on top

Some people are new to the game an dont know i guess, the way he hooked it up is basically the proper form for a cold air intake on an all motor setup... Regardless to the op, you hooked it up very wrong. If nothing is not messed up already, u need to un-do your "catch can" system and plug the hole to your charge pipe and run any lines being used as crankcase ventilation to an actual catch can/breather thats off to the side.
