Default woulda hondata intake manifold gasket help with turbo?

Simple Q,
i was thinking of building an NA d16z6 setup, with mild mods(boltons,
cam, thinner headgasket, and hondata IM gasket)

but I may be able to get a turbo setup for cheap,
so i'm wondering, would the hondata IM gasket still be helpful?

its supposed to give u to 5% more hp by keeping the IM cool by keeping it insulated from the head.

is IM heatsoak a problem at all with turbo setups?
or is the air moving so fast thru it that it doesnt matter??

any thoughts are appreciated.

thank you.

wouldn't hurt AFAIK, esp. since some turbo cars run hotter than na (depending on ic efficiency). I was thinking about it myself.

I will get it back on topic. One day when we where at the dyno I touched my Friends intake manifold on his all motor b20vtec and after about 8 runes and after driving it down to the dyno the manifold was worm and the head was to hot to keep your hand on it. We started talking about it and decided that the gasket was working. So I got one for my turbo car and after every thing was in and running I touched my manifold it was hot as hell so I don’t know how well it is helping on my car. I think if you spent the money on a better intercooler you would be better off. If your going all motor then I would get it.

the intake gaskets work well on turbo cars. the whole point is to keep the incoming air cooler by seperating the head and the manifold. Whether it is NA or FI the IM doesn't get as hot.

Now we could go on forever about if the Intake Manifold temp has as much effect on pressurized air as it does on non pressurized, or the smaller (percentage) effect it has on a FI car over a NA car just because (in general) FI cars make more power. 5HP on a 500HP car is a smaller % than 5HP on a 200 HP car.

Hop that helps.

wow, the second part of my post makes entirely no sense. Been typing all day long.

Moral: get the gasket, it's a $60 part, you might as well take advantage of some (althought not a lot) of "free" HP.

Ive got the gasket on my car, though Im not turbo'd yet.
It def. makes a difference, like said after driving for a bit I could hardly touch my IM, but its just mildly warm after the gasket install.

if you do get it, make sure you scrape off all the old gasket from the head and IM, otherwise you'll get a vacuum and coolant leak, like me

I have a hondata gasket on my turbo setup and after a few hard runs if I touch the manifold, its just warm. you can keep your hand on it all day long.

I highly recommend getting one.

For $60, you really can't go wrong.

For the price of 4-5 stock gaskets, you get a gasket that doubles as a power adder.

I noticed a difference after installing one.
Manifold is warm to touch, not hot as hell!

Took some temp readings, and it averaged about 30º cooler.

PLUS, you dont have to grind off any old gasket material when you pull your manifold off.

are these gaskets reuseable? i've been considering one, but i don't want to spend 60 bucks every time i take my intake manifold off.

i wouldn't re-use stock gasket, i've had hondata gasket since turbo install, i really don't know if it helped much or not, but its only $60 so why not, i'm sure it helps, i just have no comparison.. i'm running the race version - the one that blocks coolant return - advantage is cooler air temps. i haven't had any overheating issues.. so i'll keep it that way.

I'm curently running a simalar gasket made by a Mid-Tennessee based company Called "NextGear" It works on the same principle, cooler intake manifold temp. check out this thread all about it https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1

When I had the Hondata gasket on my LS swap it kept my manifold cool as long as my car was moving. The only time it would get hot is when my car was sitting in one spot running. I'm getting it again for my new car.

note: when I installed it on my LS engine the studs were too short and I couldn't use the plastic washers that came with the gasket. Anyone else have this problem? Longer studs would solve this.
