I would purchase a new one since it is not too expensive to replace?Think of it this way add up what you would lose if it fails and what it would cost in labor and time spent rplacing such parts and then the hundred bucks the pump will run you doesnt seem that bad?Just my .02

open it up, clean it, inspect it, check all the clearances. it's not that hard (it's actually retardedly easy) and it can save you a lot of money and give you a lot of piece of mind.

The only ones I would replace are the D16Y series ones. They don't like me, and I don't like them. I prefer the Z6 pumps with the Z6 pan and pickup.

Nope. The only issue we ran into is the Y series blocks use the oil pump for the dipstick route. When you put the Z6 pump, pan, and pickup on the only thing you run into is you don't have any way of checking the oil level, but I'm a member of home made turbo, so I don't worry about it.

I reused mine, the motor only had 54K miles and lived on synthetic oil from the first oil change.
If I didn't know the condition, then I'd spend the $100 on a new one.

My pump from my GSR with 154k miles on it looked brand new and fell within normal OEM clearances. There wasn't any scoring on the gears either. I didn't reuse it just some food for thought

I would reuse the oil pump. OEM oil pumps are expensive you can get them from autozone cheap but the are garbage. I'd rather have a used oem unit then a new parts store peice.
they don't really go bad that often anyway. If you are running a turbo you probably have an oil pressure gauge anyway. if you start noticing an oil pressure drop someday. I doubt you will just check it out and maybe change the oil pump then but they really don't go bad that often.
Waterpumps are a differant story though you should really change the water pump while your in there.

I reused my Y8 oil pump with my build a few years ago. Haven't had any problems with it. It was close to 50,000 miles at the time of the build and looked like brand new.
