Default would u use rings other than honda?

Would you guy's use any other piston ring that a honda?

Basically the honda rings for my block are $55 canadian per piston. But I can go to Canadian Tire and buy a complete set for $55 canadian. I know that honda OEM is best, but I mean there is a big price difference.

The #1 piston and rings are toast. The other cylinders are great, hardly any ridge and I can still see the cross hatching. Would I be just wasting my time putting in non oem rings if the block diden't seem to need them? I'm just thinking ya know now that I have it appart and what not (mind you the block is still in the car). If not I'll just buy honda oem rings and put the #1 piston back together.

The same goes for the rod bearings.

Advice please from all you experienced builders.

I agree. Don't be cheap on this one. Get the Honda rings, and make sure you hone the cylinders so the new rings will seat.
