just get a nice handheld band saw.....I used one all summer long to cut rebar, so I dont think you would have any problem with pipe. Gotta be alot cheaper too.

I used to have one like that and it alway wanted to deflect and the blade would come off.. So depending how much you plan to use it..

Who makes that one??...Looks like a Grizzly..cuz if it is I have had experience cutting tubing with a grizzly one..the one I used wasnt on a stand like that...and under it was a water tank for the coolant when you cut metals

Ill be getting one of these in the near future...the 3/4" thick blade. my 6 1/2" band saws still arent cutting it when it takes 5 hours in JUST CUT TIME per collector. I figure, get a beefier blade, turn up the speed, add coolant, add pressure. Cut the time by 75%, and thats good for everyone!

chop saw with metal blade aint gonna help me make any collectors or anything of the sort where you gotta have soem nice angles to em ..

alrady got a chop saw .. tried it with just muffler piping and didnt work worth crap .. kept on deflecting and giving me funky angles .. besides .. it doesnt lock the piece down enough.

exactly. and imagine your hands holding a piece of metal 5-6 inches long next to a chop saw blade trying to get an angle in there.

I'm getting one of those band saws very soon. I jsut gotta clear the garage for space

I've been using a 14" chop saw for all my work. It's a pain in the *** but it works.

Is it pretty easy to lock the tubing into that style saw and cut the 20-45° on them or no? I know it's dangerous as hell doing it with my chop saw but i'm wondering if the ban saws have good clamps for odd angles like that?

would you cut them w/ the ban saw verticle as shown above in the smaller boxxed picture or lay them down?

any info is appreciated by many. thanks.
