Wiseco 9:1 pistons for B16 actually give me 8.5:1 on calculator
hey guys,
I'm using http://www.zealautowerks.com/ to calculate my Static compression ratio with the specs given on wiseco's website for 9:1, and i'm getting 8.5:1 instead. I don't understand it really... what did I do wrong???

Wiseco leaves some fudge factor in the calculation. Different volumes in combustion chambers, etc. I have a set of 81.5mm 10 to 1 Wiseco pistons that will be anywhere from 9.7 to 10.2, depending on which head is used, GSR or B16/Type R. The only way to truly know, is to cc your head after any valve work, cc the piston in the bore, and do the math. If you are deadset about achieving a certain ratio, you may have to resort to milling the head, decking the block, or removing material from the piston crown, depending on whether you are raising or lowering the ratio. Keep in mind that any of these operations can have consequences that affect clearances and cam timing. I personally don't believe in buying a bunch of aftermarket parts and assembling them, without checking to verify that they meet my specifications.

I'm trying to run this as well but i'm having trouble finding the dome cc and comp height (mm) of my pistons, Anyone willing to help find them for me? I dont have the box or I would check the spec sheet.

People run over 300whp on stock b18c5's. If you think half a point is that big of a deal, then maybe you're using the wrong fuel...

true, my head has been milled and the block was decked, so i'm thinking it will be a tad bit higher than 8.5:1, but i'm also going for a street car so 0-3K RPM needs to have decent acceleration.. could that be fixed by advancing the ignition timing?
