Will the MSD 6AL box work with the EMS 30-6060 in boosted integra
I have a 96 integra boosted and running the AEM EMS 30-6060 series 2 box. I would like to know If I can use the MSD 6AL ignition box wired up to my stock distributor. Will the EMS still be able to controll the ignition timing?

i would stay away from MSD products. this is just from my own experience, and few other friends who has boosted hondas. when we had the msd stuff on the cars things never ran right. soon as we went back to OEM problems gone.

Well on my last dyno tune @ 20psi + water meth injection 8900 rpm the factory ignition was starting to break up. So I'm looking for something a little more reliable up there. I have a brand new MSD 6AL just sitting there on my shelf...........

how much power? U should be good to 500+ on stock ignition. What spark plugs? And gap? Get coilpacks or m&w ignition

oem should be able to handle 500+whp. im making over 500 with oem stuff with out any problems. but if you have a brand new msd sitting there collecting dust, theres no harm trying i guess. G/L

I just talked to my tuner and He said Yes the MSD will help with the Water/Meth injection in the higher RPM range. It will keep from blowing out. I'm going to wire it to control the OEM coil pack, So It will look like stock. You guys will think I'm crazy but, I don't like the flashy red look of the box so.........I did this!

yeah true msd will help. The only reason people say not to use them is because they can burn out the igniter in the dizZy sometimes. Happen to me b4. So I pulled off the msd, n I'm making 490/375 on a built Ls, stock ignition, but give the msd a try,,

If its not setup properly that could be the source of your problem, i find it highly unlikely that the stock dizzy is crapping out on you at only 400hp. More power to you for using the MSD setup but i never liked the risk it places on burning out the ICM. The aem engine management as far as i know is setup from scratch right? where as programs like neptune, and ectune would have dwell timing already preset for the specific car/map, correct?

The dwell settings should be fine i'd imagine. His tuner would of most likely used one of his basemaps with the dwell settings already optimised.
I like what you've done to that MSD box CaliforniaDad. I'm not a fan of the red myself.

Well I installed a new distributor, and seems to run a tiny bit smoother, Funny thing is I think the engine or exhaust note sounds a little different as well. Sounds better. Might be all in my head...lol
