Will I have any problems if I use e-cutout before cat and o2 sensors?
I was thinking that when i turbo my car i want to have a 2.5" downpipe w/ a cutout before my stock cat and exhaust. Would this throw a code because the exhaust gas isnt getting to the o2 sensors, since i have a 97 gsr and both o2's are in the cat? Also if i could do this would i need to reduce the downpipes diameter to mate up with the stock cat to maybe 2.25" or 2"?

I would put it after the o2. Who cares about the cat. I think if it is before the cat it will make the car run rich as **** and throw code. Someone correct me if im wrong. I want to get a e-cut out soon

I don't have a cat and have converted to OBD1. I installed the cutout before the primary O2, and never had a problem (although it was a concern). Remember, there is still some gases traveling through the whole exhaust.

it would be pointless to put the cutout after the stock cat though. will there be enough gases going through the normal exhaust that it will not throw a code?

I need an answer to this. Anyone with an obd2 car have a cutout before the cat and are there any problems?

I think the vast majority of ppl who run E-cutouts are serious enough to have a serious engine management system such as Hondata, which means OBD1 (1 less O2), or AEM EMS which doesnt display any CEL. Both can be setup to totally ignore O2 sensor input and run entirely off the map (open loop).
Most pics of E-cutouts Ive seen have a EGT and O2 sensor on the DP close to the turbo, before the E-cutout.
