Wierd check engine light problem on my turbo car.
My car popped a check engine light yesterday. The wierd thing is that when I go to jump the jumper and check the code, the check engine light completely goes away. I have a 96 Civic hatchback converted to OBD1 with a Ryewire harness, and Hondata S100 in a P72. I have been running the car for about 6 months and have had no problems.
I also notice that I have no vtec anymore.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The light stays on constantly. As soon as I crank the car up it goes out like normal, then comes on and stays on. And when I try to jump the jumper to check the code, the light goes out completely.

No, noticeable hesitation or problem, besides the vtec not working. I don't know of any broken wire, like I stated, it ran perfect for about 6 months.

This might be a long shot but it is worth checking. I am not sure but I think that if the 7.5 fuse under the hood for the back up is blown you may not get a code after the car is turned off and turned back to the on position.
Good luck

I'd inspect/test the S100. Usually this is one issue you get when the ecu has a bad chip in it, or in general is crapping out. I don't think S100 runs the checksum, but a bad checksum would do that.
