B18A
tuned fairly rich for daily driving.
I was fooling around at work this morning and thought I would clean the throttle plate on my car. I used the spray we get with out 3 part injector cleaner we use, and it got a little carbon and crap out.
I went to start it and it sputtered a little, but it lit up finally and smoked out all of the cleaner and backfired pretty loud. It idles fine, about 1200 where it always had, but when I drive it, I hear a ticking in the motor. I can't tell if it's the bottom end, or possibly an exhaust leak that I had earlier, but had gone away as of late.
any guesses as to what I have done? The car still runs just as hard as it did before, except it has that shitty ticking noise like a time bomb getting ready to explode. It does seem to spool a little slower than before, but will still pull 16-17 lbs with no problem.
my car hates me I think.

Re: (mildly.interesting)
if it was just the ticking noise i could say u are running into the same problem that my friend Chris has with his recently put togther re-builded motor, but sence it just started happeneing i think its more to do with whatever you were ******* with. in his case with think that a cam gear wasnt tightened enough so we need to take off his valve cover but in your case i would see what other people have to say. also is your motor making the noise louder at certain points like through the RPM band or is the noise constant and at the same volume???

you may have knocked off a piece of carbon and know it is in the cylinder, on top of the piston, it should fly out at some point. if that is what it is

I'm liking your answer
I went out for a spin just a few minutes ago and it seems to have quit ticking. It pulls hard like always, spinning to the end of 3rd on 205 50 15 BFG drag radials.
