Default why is my overflow tank keep toping of under boost?

guys, this happens everytime i make a high boost run. boost is at 22 psi on vp c-16 and total timing is at 20 degrees. the thing is, that the car is not overheating and there is no oil in the cooling system, so it is not a head gasket problem. i am thinking that maybe the hot weather (37 deg. F) may have played a role in this. what do you guys think?

P.S a/f was 11.8-12.1 under wot.

Sounds like a headgasket problem.

It is the head gasket! what happens under high boost like that is the head is actually lifting. It lets a little pressure leak out but it doesnt mean its a blown head gasket. Sometimes the boost can creep inbetween the head gasket layers and you can't even tell where the leak is. If your not running arp head studs, change to those. Run a copper coating on the top and bottom of the head gasket next time. If your running stock, you might want to switch to a Cometic. I have also seen boost creep inbetween the cometics and a change to stock fixed the problem....Mike

Mike, what kinda torque specs are you using?

Stock, or do you increase?

I am also having that same problem..i just changed to a thicker headgasket and my reservoir tank will overflow and spill all over the place under boost. I am gonna try retorquiing the head (im using arp studs) and see if i still have the same problem..if I do im going back to stock

That happened to me once it ended up being a hairline crack on the sleeve.

We add 6 or 7 pounds over stock when using APP's with Cometic

yeah it was the head gasket. for some unknown reason the arp studs kept backing off, so i checked the head which was fine , then check the deck of the block. OMG!!the two inner cylinders had a clearance of .003-.004" using a straight edge. the outer sides of the block was within spec. btw this is a jg pro series block.they just lost another customer, for good. got to call javier on monday and see what can be done about this situation.

i had the same problem under boost, turned out to be the headgasket plus the head was warped just a tiny bit due to overheating a lot near one of the water jackets.
