hey whats up. I put a b16a2 in my civic, and I just finished putting the turbo on. TODAY! yea! anyway, my motor does this weird tapping sound. It wont do it when i turn the car on, but only after I drive it for a while and come to a stop and idle, the motor taps. I've had the valves adjusted, but it still does it. My next guess would maybe be the water pump??? dont they make ticking or tapping noises sometimes? could my valvesprings be bad? the car doesnt misfire or anything. but it sounds like the sound is coming from the valve cover. grr, any help to point me in the right direction would be AWESOME! let me know!

My JDM a1 did that the entire time I had it; even after numerous valve adjustments. It seems pretty common for the B16's. Nothing was ever wrong with mine, and I never noticed any ill side effects.

I've heard that some injectors make a clicking sound which can sometimes be rather loud.

T25 civic

Hold a screw driver onto the injectors then put your ear on the other side and listen to the clicking, if they have the same pattern then its the injectors. You can move around and touch anything on the motor and should be able to hear whats clicking if you find it.

ya, have you changed your timing belt? we thought my gf's valves were loose, so i adjusted them...still was ticking, we decided it was timing belt slap, and that i would change it the first chance i get, a week later i drop her off, make it about 4 miles and BAM, car dies...guess what snaped the timing belt...i dont know how but i didnt bend any valves! just luck i guess

mine is a USDM 00' Si motor, its got 19,xxx miles on it now. Im going to adjust the valves now and see what happens. I've already gotten them adjusted but im going to try again. thanks for the responses.

I think b-series motors are non interference. Which means the valves wont touch the pistons if the timing belt breaks.

no, i know B series and allmost all other honda motors are interference, so...belt brakes, get ready to tapp into those extra savings

so i re-adjusted my valves. It ran fine for a night, when i drove to class this morning i got out and i heard a slight tap every so often. i hate motors
