Why are long high speed runs not good? Road racing questions..
Well I've been in a dilema still...I'm starting to get involved in road racing at track days, but would love to go turbo again. I've heard about half and half that the car will be fine turbo on there, and that it wont be. What's so bad about boosting in 4th for a while? Does anyone here attend track days w/ their boosted honda? I've seen sumorex kick *** out there with a turbo, and a buddy of mine took his boosted rex out...just once though. What are the main things to look out for? I can't decide whether to continue with another turbo or not

If you have a built engine, it not going to be a problem , go ahead.
It is very important on a high-speed Honda engine that you polish the sections that the crank rides on because oil pump failure is often caused by shock of the clutch engaging. This will make the crank move and if the oil pump catches on the crank it can cause the vein on the pump to shatter . It is also important that the pump doesn't have to much play on the crank.

Detonation is the big reason. Well tuned cars will detonate less at speed because of the cool air over the intercooler. However, if your a/f is off, you're gonna detonate it into the ground with prolonged load on the motor. Even with perfect EGT's you can preignite and/or detonate a motor into the ground easilly. I've seen it done.

Hey Quick..I wondered the same thing and my engine didn't come stock w/ a cooler, so it's a yes in my book.
As for the rest, so if the engine isn't built, it's basically a no no?

Well this is on track days, not auto-x. They usually have about 4 20-minute sessions, so it's pretty damn intense for your engine. I'm not sure who puts on events over on the east side.
