Why does my DSM BOV sound like a vortech BOV?
Here is the problem; I have no downpipe, so my **** is very loud. I can't really tell if the bov is letting the charge out when it's supposed to, BECAUSE, My boost gauge flutters back down to zero. and my bov makes that distinct woosh woosh woosh woosh woosh, soud when I let off the gass after boosting. What could be the problem? I have it securely tee'd into the 1/4" vacuum line on the top of the intake manifold. My boost gauge is tee'd into the same line {which reads "0" at idle as well, but shows 5 psi at full boost... wtf?) maybe there's a vacuum lwak? you tell me if you know for certain or can make an educated guess. Thank you very much.

Well if your boost gauge is reading 0 @ idle, then theres something wrong, vac leak or your gauge is broken or something. You should be reading vac. My DSM bov @ 15psi sounds great, no flutter eathier.

Re: (OH ISH ITS DAT FOOL JAMES)
to be more accurate with this descrpton of the problem, It's supposed to be reading vacuum, but only when I step on the gas it goes down to -10, then back up, and the to +5 for boost, and once I let of the gas completely, I hear lightly, "whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh" and my boost gauge shakes it's way down from +5 back to 0....wtf

the woosh woosh fluttering sound happened to my dsm bov when I had a leak on the bov hose. Once I fixed it the sound went to normal.

Yeah. Try taking off the VAC source from the BOV and capping it. Then start the car to see where your idle is.
I bought a beat DSM BOV off of a member on here. The diaphram on the inside was torn so the thing wasn't working. Got a blitz for $100, so no harm no foul.

Re: (redsikiller)
I'm just gonna replace all the vacuum lines. The blowoff valve works by vacuum or pressure? Also I've heard of people teeing into the brake booster, but the boostgauge installation instructions say not to do that. What do you think?

Re: (redsikiller)
I narrowef it down. I just installed my greddy BOV, and still; whoosh whoosh woosh, so I guess theres not enough vacuum to open it?

Re: (nota-eg)
I tee'd the boost gauge into the fpr line, and now it reads correct. But still, my bov isn't opening. Like I said, I have the bov tee'd into the 1/4" line that goes from the top of the intake manifold to the evap canister. wtf?

Re: (nota-eg)
i think i have the same problam.
my bov somtimes fluttaring and somtimes dont..
but the boost gauge reading is good and stable (500-600 at idle)
i have a HKS super bov (the one that came sttock on some nissans i think)
it have 2 vac ports on it and i "teed" them both into one line that is teed of the FPR. is it the right way?
