Default why is the autometer a/f ratio gauge so bad?

im just curious why evryone hates them,im thinking its becuase of when the ecu starts increasing voltage on the o2 sensor it throws the gauge off and makes it look rich at WOT when its actually not,is that correct,if so,could you just wire it up to its own o2 sensor, that does not run through the ecu.using this? http://store.summitracing.com/global...e/msd-8933.jpg im wondering,if i could hook up the msd and the a/f gauge?

Acutally the autometer guage is not bad. ITs the o2 sensor which is the problem. It can only see a short range of air fuel numbers. Compared to a wideband o2 thats why. its not a bad gauage it good meter for WOT runs.
