It's not a waste of time, as long as it is tuned it'll be straight. I've seen a few stock block cars run good, they all had inline pro headgaskets.

i had that gasket, and very well tuned, i got 300whp @12psi. 7k mi later i had 90psi of compression in cylnder #3. 2k mi later she was dead. you can do it, just not for long.

that is not the fault of the headgasket or the stock motor. anyone here who thinks you cannot run 350-400 to the wheels on a stock b18c1 for at least a year or two is seriously mistaken.

I did 344whp on a stock block, well I had a blockguard, and ran out of fuel becuase my injectors were to small. When I took it in for tuning my a/f was 14.5 and I drove and raced it like that for over a year @14lbs.
