who wants some free money??
if u can give me the right answer to this question i'll give u some money. i've been dealing with this problem for a while now and am desperate for answers. i have a 70mm tb.Originally i had a 2k rpm idle. thought i may have had a bad v-afc. i unplugged it and it didn't work. i plugged it back in and then it didn't illuminate. now i'm using my buddies(it illuminates). however whenever i hit the gas it bogs down and dies. but when i unplug the afc it doesn't do it. as far as the high idle and this problem i've done everything possible. resoldered and checked afc wires, changed TPS,MAP,IACV.put on stock tb. tried using a different ecu, used carb cleaner to check for vacuum leaks...anything u can think of..please, i need your help

how much money are we talking?
There is a little screw with a spring between the manifold and the head of the screw... not sure where it is, but i've been told that adjusts your idle...
someone wanna back me up on this?
ryan

To adjust the idle on the screw, you have to unplug the iacv, then jump the ecu. Then adjust the screw located on the TB.

if your replying to the screw on the throttle body, i've allready tried that. and yes it is a v-afc..and no i didn't change anything on the controller that would effect the idle.

Look inside the throttle body and make sure that it is closed all the way. If it is not and you can close it more with your hand to make it not idle so high, then I would ditch it for a stock throttle body. What kind of TB is it? Holley,BBK?
If it is one of these than that may be the problem.
If that isn't it then make sure the TB gasket is not damaged.
How much money do I get?

Re: who wants some free money?? (speedy108)
i made sure the TB is all the way closed. it is a TB from inlinefour.com also, i allready tried the stock one and it did nothing for the idle. and for the gasket, i sprayed carb cleaner all around it and nothing happened, so the gasket is fine.

Sounds to me like you have a vaccum leek. When you put on this throttlebody did you remove all the old gasket from the manifold? Does your boost guage show vaccum? if so what is it reading (you should be around 16 to 18 in vaccum)? My bet is that you have a leek by the throttlebody. Check where it bolts to manifold and also check that your gasket is still intact around your TPS.

Re: who wants some free money?? (MIKES)
no, no vacuum leak. my boost guage shows 21 for vacuum. and i didn't think that air came out of the TPS. i did a boost test on my car and i had no leaks (none coming out of the tps. also sprayed carb cleaner all around everything....tb,intake manifold, everywhere and it was fine.

you did take off the stock TB and then you seen this problem there is a cable adjustmen on there some where and it seems to me that it got tightned up some hown maybe when you losed the nut up on it and it is holding the plate open just alittlebit, and as for the ilumination on you afc there is a setting in there for how bright you want it to be it could be turned all the way down.
try to inisalize it and start from sratch after you took care of the cable if that is the problem.
if the cable is not to tight then try to inisalize it and see if it makes a difference

Try checking your coolant level and your coolant lines to see if they were hooked up right and to see if you have enough coolant going through your throttle body and if its hot when it gets there, also are you throwing any codes from you ecu??

Re: who wants some free money?? (newgsr)
are you using wire clips to connect the vafc to the ecu? we had that problem with the vortech integra where in, when we accelerate hard, the vafc shuts off and the engine runs rich and dies.. we traced it to the wire clips (bad connectivity) and soldered everything.. then the problem went away..

take apart the FITV it is on the bottom of the TB, take the cover off of it, 2 bolts, and screw the big plastic bolt thingy all the way down, it controls your idle.
