Who runs tial 38mm on high hp setups?
I know it depends on your manifold design as to whether or not the wastegate will be adequate, so speak up if your running 450 hp or more on a tial 38. I'm in the process of a 500-550 whp 2.0L lsvtec build and don't really wanna pay out the *** for a 44 or 50mm wastegate. I have a tial 38mm from my previous setup, and I'm unsure of my new manifold setup as of now. I will probably make a custom equal length ramhorn style. I just wanna know if the gate is gonna be adequate before I flange the manifold for it. My turbo is a gt3561s and i'll probably run 25ish psi

I think Joe simpson (Turbo-Charged) was running a 38 gate and making over 500whp. i would say just get the 44mm and be safe.

i made 616whp with a manifold i made with a 38mm wg w/ 15psi spring.
GET A 44MM!!!
my 38 worked but the 44 is soooo much nicer, easier to work with, etc. and its only a couple bucks more

Yeah if i didn't already have this one, I wouldnt even think about it... that's what I have, 38mm gate and 15psi spring... did you have any boost creep? pics of the manifold?

I know of someone with a supra making 1400whp on a Tial 44mm
Let me know if you need any Tial products.
We have them in stock ready to ship

i didnt have any creep....actually i had an 18psi spring, not 15. if you plan on drag racing the car get the biggest gate you can affored. you have no idea how important low boost in first gear is untill you realize that you cant go any lower that what your at...and the track cant hold it.
here's the start of the manifold.....had a 90 off the front of it to the gate.
i was worried that this one may have boost creep....but it held 6psi perfectly. made 320whp at 6psi through the auto trans.
my suggestion is to sell your 38 and get a 44. just think of how much money you have in your motor so far.....and ask yourself is the couple extra bucks worth the peace of mind

Re: Who runs tial 38mm on high hp setups? (Turbo-charged)
Thanks Turbo-charged. I plan on running my current spring (15 psi) as my low boost, b/c you can only go 2x your springrate correct? I figure on running 25 psi high boost. I will have to make a decision sometime in the next week or so, so i'll think about the wastegate thing... seems to me the 38 would do fine on 15 psi and definately @ 25

I had a lot of creep on my 38/40 tial wastegate. (I was also running a small spring) I had to switch to a 44mm. I say go with the 44mm so you don't have to spend the money and waste you time trying to setup another dyno day.
Most of your high octane race gas is leaded so you are supposed to get the leaded valve for the wastegate
