Who here has cracked their cylinder wall?
How much did you have the engine bored out? I'm wondering because I'll probably decide on what size pistons I'm going to get soon. On a 130k block I'm guessing they must be a little out of round, so I think stock bore is out of the question. So it's either got to be .25mm or .50mm oversized...but I'm scared of the thin cylinder walls when I spray

depends on the block..some are stronger then others. The b20 likes to crack if it sees a turbo in the same room. A b16a is very strong. The sohc motors normally dont crack although they warp under time with boost.
Sleeving a block = a long turbo honda life

Oooh, ooh-----Raises hand
Just make sure you get forged pistons, tune it well, and dont spray the hell out of it.
By the way. This was done on boost.
Here is the new beast....
Darton Baby!!

I sell/install Dartons. $1200 for the Pro series closed deck, same as my motor.

Re: Who here has cracked their cylinder wall? (blufke)
Cause only GEM works on their sleeves and no one else.
Save $ in shipping.
If you drop a valve or throw a rod, or screw up any cylinder then you can have another cylinder pressed back in. You wont having to overbore, purchase 4 new pistons, 4 new rings, etc.
Their sleeves are harder.
Their sleeves if properly installed will NEVER drop. With GE they still can and if they do good luck trying to get the to warranty their product.
Dartons are used in OEM applications, as well as ultra high hp race motors like top fuel alcohol race cars. John Force, Lingenfelter, Esslinger, Schumacher, Kieth Black, and TRD just to name a few.
Is that reason enough? I would think so.

Re: Who here has cracked their cylinder wall? (ludesleep)
Any sleve can crack, open deck or not, it depends a lot on how strong the sleve is, how thick, how much boost, if you're detonating or not, compression ratio.....
For instance, I have an Jap isuzu engine, Stock sleves can handle 30 lbs of boost, and 100 shot of nos without any problems on a .5mm overbore.
Then you have the above situations, 16 psi go boom
Each engine is a little bit different.
They have a test called "sonic check" which will determine the thickness of your sleves in different spots along the cylinder wall.
