white smoke coming out of valve breather
I got white smoke coming out of the little filter on my valve cover.I've got a boosted ls motor.Right when I turn the car on smoke comes out at idle. It's not really that thick. When I lay into the gas when I'm driving and pull over I got oil under my hood and all over the area where the breather.Any help would be appreciated.

all cars have blow-by. I can tell you the severity depending upon how your pcv system is hooked up.
If you have it like stock - the breather box hooked up to the im, and you know the pcv valve is good, your engine is toast. If you don't have it hooked up or you pcv valve is not functioning, what your experiencing is normal.

I've got a 98 ls motor, there's no breather box on it.The only thing different that I've done to the pcv system was put a filter on the port that's supposed to go to the intake arm.

then if you pcv valve is working (check it) your engine is toast. Most likely what others are saying - ringlands

Combustion gases getting past the broken ringland/toasted ring and into the crankcase and then making their way out of the breather... The alternate being oil getting past the rings into the combustion chamber and being burned, also a sign of shot rings.

on the 98ls thats the vc is the only pcv port?
There is no pcv valve then?
sorry im not the best with all the diff honda/acura engines out there.
I know on my b17 there was a port on the valve cover, and a port on the block where the oil galleys are.

Re: (turbotime)
no your right there is a PVC valve on the crank case but the valve cover shares the same pressure since they are connected by the oil galleys. And with a breather filter on the valve cover it will release excess pressure in the crankcase/valve cover.
