i want to get the monster style hood or something similar. anyone know a shop that sells them for a good price an is within 3hr drive from Harrisburg PA. shipping on hoods goes from $100-$180.

what ever dude. i droped over 12 grand into my crx in less than one year and $10,000 of it goes into the engine and handling. rice4life means i'm asian, not ricer dumbass. i chose turbo style carbon fiber because of functionality, not style. i just pict up a 5th with wrecked front end so i figured i'll get this hood for future turbo install. so if you don't have any helpfull info, dont post nextime.

then you are posting in the wrong forum try the apearance / cosmetic forum you will have better luck there. A hood has nothing to do with Forced Induction. gl

they call it turbo style hood for a reason. lets hot air rise from under the hood.

if you calculate hp as acceleration over time, then yes it does add hp because less weight = faster acceleration.

i'm in central,pa (enola). There's a vis buy in the best buy forumn, my hood is basically rusting/cracked and i'm probally goign to buy a cf hood. If you want to get in on it it'll be cheaper for all of us (i have another confirmed buyer and maybe 2 more not including me). With me, you and the other guy its going to be 354 shipped...get 1 more and it drops to 344 shipped. Let me know if you want in via im.

Haha you need to stop reading the APC catalog they are vented hoods and and all they would do is blow the cold air that your fans are pushing into the engine bay out. look at where the vents are right above the turbo so the radiator and condensor are pushing air in and it gets sucked right back out, never makes it to the engine.

Do they have a N/A hood also? What about a Nitrous hood that has vents over the solenoid so it doesnt get too hot? guess N/A and Nitrous engines dont get hot so they dont need a special hood.

actually, turbo generate lots more heat all the time. if you dont have a turbo you don't know. if you sit in trafic on you hot day, hot air in the engine bay makes the car very boogy.

i dont think a cast mani will crack, plus i'm planning on making an easy slip on cover for it anyways.

I think you should try looking at the imoto they have a really nice carbon fiber hood with a really nice inlet . I think importsource.net distributes them.goodluck man-pdang

it's ok rice4life, i know what you mean about the vented hoods, and heat and all. i have a predator hood and it lets out all the added heat of running a turbo. it actually works quite well. not sure if they make a c/f predator hood or not, but VIS does make one with a similar center vent

i have seen carbon fiber in predator style. VIS makes invader style which is kinda like monster style, and also evolution which looks like lancer EVO hood with out the little intake vent on the side.

i made that run only 2 days after the turbo install. i had no boost controller. and havent had the chance to do 1/4 since. the car is well tuned running at 10psi now. my last run was a 8.3 on 1/8 mile with a broken ring land on #4.
