Where to buy screen or cover of Turbo inlet??

Sorry if this has been discussed.

I did search for screen, cover, turbo cover, no air filter but could not find any results.

Where can I get a screen or cover if I took my filter and piping off. I had to so I can run a puller style fan. Car runs too hot still, but don't want to just run my turbo with no cover whatsoever.....

Do you guys do that for DD car?

Menards sells charcoal colored fiberglass screen for $.98 per roll....or if you're really badass, get the Aluminum stuff for $4.00 https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Urugly 09-13-2007 10:23 PM

Is menards a hardware store? Do they have any on the west coast?

Can I find that stuff at Home Depot? Lowes?

Should I just run nothing??

Schister66 09-13-2007 10:25 PM

Menards is like Home Depot/Lowes....
Yes you can get screening rolls anywhere, you'll just have to get the tougher stuff that's marketed as a "Pet Guard"

...i'll try get pics soon

Try to avoid the fiberglass stuff if the turbo is really close to the manifold/bottled up heatsource. I used fiberglass at one time because the local hardware store didn't have anything else, and the fiberglass mesh melted in one week. I caught it just in time before it got sucked on https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmileo.gif

Go for the aluminum or stainless steel mesh https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

I suppose that could be a problem. I haven't checked mine recently, but when i first tested it, it didnt seem to be a problem. I do have the compressor side ceramic coated so it doesn't heat up as much as others might....

lowes/home depot/walmart/etc.... aluminum screen.

not recommended for a daily driver, but sometimes there are no choices.

Urugly 09-14-2007 06:40 AM

man that xenocron screen is a nice find...i like how i looks. My problem is my block is hitting the inlet and I would have to cut that nice piece of work up. I might as well just try home depot and see if I can get an aluminum or SS one like you guys say.

Thanks.

Pictures anyone??? Anyone ok with running nothing???

Re: (Urugly)

I have ran screen for quite a while on a few different setups no problems.Really if you can fit a filter i would but in some cases you cant so screen it is.

Here is a pic of mine...

I just bought a screen from http://www.xenocron.com/catalo....html but DAM it won't work for my application my 4" inlet has a ribbed lip and will not slide over it...https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif

Re: (Urugly)

what manifold and turbo are you using?

Urugly 09-14-2007 01:48 PM

the people running NO filter look like your weekend warriors for track. How about for you daily drivers, OK for NO screen at all?

home depot screen door works wonders

921lsturbo 09-14-2007 03:39 PM

no screen its already not really that great because dirt can still get through but one rock could be the end of that turbo if there is nothing on it at all

I daily drive mine and drive 500+ miles to the racetrack on weekends as well i live in northern Canada where there is logging trucks all over the place dragging crap [rocks, mud etc] out of the woods onto the highway.

bigbadboy 09-14-2007 04:13 PM

if you can put some sort of filter on there.

Re: (bigbadboy)

I ran with out a filter for about 8 months...just a screen. I'll never do it again.
