Re: where is the best place to mount the EGT probe (ProfileGsR)
I have mine tapped into the downpipe flange through the hole where the internal wastegate would go if I were not using an external wastegate. The probe is still before the turbo, works great and will not crack your manifold or anything.

Re: where is the best place to mount the EGT probe (ProfileGsR)
I have mine located on the downpipe tward the end.. Not my idea.. it was done before i could tell them where to put it..
my temperatures, from dustins readings at 80mph are about 50 degrees off of mine at the same speed.. cruising at 80mph. I think as long as you have a reference to go by you should be ok.. find out someones EGTS after you install it.. and see roughly how much difference you have.. and go from tehre..

mine is in the same place as dustins and we have similar readings. I stole his idea and i think he stole marks but it works great

the only thing that i have heard negative about mounting it in the manifold was that the probe heated up and went threw the turbo. thats the only thing holding me back at this point

GSRwBOOSt,
Maybe you guys should test that again but at full throttle.. because that's when the EGT will be most useful. Hopefully it will still be only a few degrees off.. but I'm suspecting it might get farther off when you guys are under heavy load.

Re: where is the best place to mount the EGT probe (dustin)
ahh that explains why your egt's are so low
here is where mine sits... right at the merge point for all cylinders.. even this is too far. i have heard the numbers are about 100 degrees cooler for every 1" away from the head.

Re: where is the best place to mount the EGT probe (TurboR616)
I am about to install my EGT and I am going to be placing it as close to the head as possible on the #1 cylinder. I don't have any experience in this matter, but I have researched it throughly, and that is where I have determined it is the best place to mount. I just need a machine shop to place a bung in for me.

Re: where is the best place to mount the EGT probe (B18CHatch)
Copied from the link:
All EGT probes, regardless of application should be installed at a location which would be 1/2 the primary tube diameter from the head surface. So if the ID of your primary tubes is 1.5", the hole or bung should be located .75" from the head side of the flange. You may place it at any angle to allow access to header bolts, etc.
This is a position that's considered a "standard" for location in the automotive world, and allows people to compare apples with apples.

Re: where is the best place to mount the EGT probe (Arturbo)
on the civic si, the number 3 cylinder runs lean the most, those with the b16 usually blow their number 3 piston lands, so, most on that site(Clubsi) put it on the number 3 runner from the manifold.
