when you can't lower the engine into the car... lower the car onto the engine [pics]
I finally got the head on the motor and everything bolted together. Theres still a long way to go but a couple of mounts are in and I'm starting to see the end. If anyone is ever thinkind of putting together and entire drag car from scratch just know it takes a LONG time. Motor assembly, tranny work, head assembly, putting it all together, fuel pump, suspensino, wiring, etc etc. Anyway here you go.
We didn't have a hoist so I put the tranny on the blcok and pushed that under the car. Then I put the head on with it sitting in the engine bay (too tall to push it all under). Set the timing, tightened down the crank, and lowered the car onto the engine.

I'm surprised you fit an engine behind that intercooler. Awesome.

it is the inline pro manifold, and it can be done . lots of space between the turbo and block when mounted this way. we just need to rotate the compressor housing 90 degrees counter clockwise so the intercooler piping will fit.

YES, it is the inline pro. YES, it is really mounted like that. YES, the short 4" filter fits and you don't have to shave the frame or have an elbow. YES, that is a 60-1 and everything fits like a glove.
I got the filter from b18bturbo, I think it was about 30 bucks.

Is there plenty(between turbine and radiator) of room for a 3" DP? Can t really tell from any of your pics...

its going to be tight for the downpipe. it can fit, but the bend coming off of the exhaust housing wont be optimal. it may have better fitment if we trim down the fan housing

I think so. I'll let you know for sure in a couple of weeks when the car goes in for some fabrication, including downpipe and rollcage.
It looks like there is definitely room for the standard 2.5 to 3" flare downpipe. We were wondering the same thing but it looks like it will be fine.
edit: removed picture, see post above

Hey, could you do me a really good favor and get a good shot of the space between the rad. and turbo?

You've been together long enough, you can start treating her like dirt now
