Default Whats the pros and cons on turbo kits on JDM 98 DC1 ZC engine

Hey guys,

I wanna turbo my car,

i just got a teg and the first thing i wanna do is turbo, i dont wanna B16 or B18 her!

shes a JDM Honda Integra 1998 DC1 with a ZC sohc non-vtec 1.6litre engine...
shes completely stock...

I heard these motor are to soft to mod, is this true?
I google these car and they come 110 - 120 bhp factory.....

Let me know if i turbo this car how much bhp will i gain!
Is this adviseable to turbo the DC1

Has any1 ever turbo these cars on this site?

I'm from Ireland, Dublin.... so parts are pretty expensive to import!

well... don't even bother with a single... With a turbo you're going to gain power but you will lose reliability.

go ahead and turbo it. If u are going to get piece by piece turbo system it will be cheaper than getting a kit. The tune is the most important part. Good tune will still make your car reliable.
The power u make depends on your set up. So figure out how much power you want, then start deciding on a turbo to get you to your goals. For a lot of power not only will th eturbo have to be bigger but internal components of the engine will need to be changed out to keep reliability.

Go to the forced induction forum and start reading.

sohc motors are awesome to turbo. just be responsible with your driving habits and you should be just as reliable as a turbo b-series guy would be.

the problem is that you're in ireland, i'm assuming theres not many honda specialists with full tuning abilities out there.

Thats a very good question! Glad you asked!
Well orignally i wanted to tune her for personal reason but i'm in a sociey thats called drag drift and track ireland.
I can tune her and stilll tell the r specs that my is still a 1.6!
Its more of a rep reason for all these power you prop wouldnt understand!
Have you ever seen a 1.6 sohc non-VTEC teg beat a b18c or type r specs VTEC?
You know where i'm coming from mate?

Pro's - a turbo D will out perform a B swap for less money

Con's - it could blow up if not tuned properly

since you are going for the respect/rep reason you should definitely turbo your D since it's the underdog.

My stock turbo-D will beat 90% of swapped stock B's

buy yeah welcome to H-T,
you have a lot of reading to do, mate

I personally would say swap it out, but it is costly. The D's are veryb inexpensive and you can get good power out of them, but from what I've heard (and read) they can be tricky and not as reliable. I had a fully built B18 turbo car that I drove every single day for about 2 years, and never had a single issue with it.

My vote is for swap
