What's needed internally to up redline?
I'm thinking that uping my redline in my 01 GSR would be a good idea. I'm going to get a drag III within the next few months and figure that uping the redline would allow me to stay in each lower gear longer thus accelerating faster. What parts internally would I need to up the redline to say 10K? Will my factory cams even produce power that high or will I need some aftermarket cams as well? Thanks guys!!

Some good valve springs is what you need. But keep it simple and just keep your redline at 8k. Not unless your car is a full drag car will you need to do that. Keep It Simple Stupid.

Yeah, I just figured that maybe my logic of uping the redline to stay in each gear a little longer would be beneficial? I realize keeping it simple is probably a good idea and will keep me out of trouble, but I'm just trying to learn along the way!

You need to learn to crawl before you can walk. Just take it slow and dont go overboard. You will learn so much that way, plus you can learn from others mistakes. That is how I learned.

::insert sarcasm::
why move up the redline... what you need is to put more power under the redline you have already!
::end sarcasm::
and art is right.... we have all broke things because we tried to run and weren't out of the crawling stage..

I posted in the forced induction forum because I wanted oponions of turbo people and I posted in the integra forum because I wanted to hear what the integra people had to say. What's wrong with that?
What do you think we drive in here?? Fords?

you will need aftermarket cams as the GSR cams will start to lose power around 8100 or so.
and then there's the argument of installing bigger cams in a turbo car. i'd stick with stock.

Re: What's needed internally to up redline? (adam)
Raise rev limit..
cams made for higher reving, springs, valves, retairners etc... (fully built head), rechipped ecu to cut out the rev limit/fuel cut...
it can be done, but my uneducated guess would be 4k or more.. (fully worked head, cams, chipped ecu)
