boost doesn't matter, its horsepower. 25psi on one turbo could make the same amount of power as 10psi on another turbo. Give us more info on the set-up.

Re: whats the most boost herd of on a stock h22? (Makdaddynuge)
well i just finished an h22 swap in my 91 accord. I also added turbo. I have an fmu, vafc, and a 255 lph fuel pump. I know its not alot but im getting there. I need to have it tuned. The car has no power untill the vtec sets in and then the tires just spin. I am only runing 5psi. and it doesn't build that up untill 4000rpm. I was just wondering how much I could run a tuned motor with a garrett t3/t4 turbo?

Re: whats the most boost herd of on a stock h22? (accordh22turbo)
A lot of people on http://www.preludeonline.com that were running the JRSC with the 6 PSI pulley were ending up with busted ringlands. The guys with turbos were doing the same thing with prperly sized turbos and Greddy kits at 6-10 PSI. On the other hand there are also some people running the JRSC w/ 6 PSI pulley and they have not yet blown their motors.
I dont even need to know what horsepower levels they were running at that boost level. All I saw from the list of 25 peopleblown H22s, is that it only takes a low amount of boost/power to bust a ringland. With those guys blowing lands at PSI levels that low, I would not even attempt to boost a stock H22. It's just too risky.

to be honest( i know from experience...) youll save yourself in the long run if you just build it.. the h22 stock is not a great motor to boost(sleeves and ringlands) but when it is built it really performs great, to answer ur question, i dont know many who have exceeded 250 whp *for very long* on a stock h series w no probs..
whatever u do good luck though

Re: whats the most boost herd of on a stock h22? (Boosted 01 SH)
yep mines getting built right now... I ran 8psi on my stock motor(263whp)... Lasted 10 months with a t3/t04e turbo then blew... The h22 can be boosted but doesnt seem to last to long unless its built... Take everyones advice and just get it built and you'll have a 0 problem engine...

Re: (PrettyLude)
Well, people usually don't retard the ignition timing (H22 has electronically controlled ignition, can't mechanically retard), so ring lands are easy to break. H22 ring lands are really fragile.
Get real engine management and you should be OK at 6-10psi.

You can mechanically retard the timing at the distributor...

correct for obd2 but incorrect for obd1 h22's.
I believe 'Tyler H' on this board peaked out a stock block h22 at around 410whp. It lasted for a few runs then a rod gave. Here is a link for more info:

By the way... don't go above 9 psi on the engine. Tyler's engine lasted because of his significant fueling upgrades and engine management tuning. I deal with H series like there is no tomorrow and 7/10 H series I rebuild have broken ringlands.

Can you rotate the OBD1 distributor?

Amen, its horsepower that pops motors, not psi. I cant stand it when people ask psi questions.

Re: (dustin)
Yes you can.
obd2 dizzy is on the left, obd1 is on the right. Notice the lower mounting hole... that is what keeps the obd2 from changing position whereas obd1 is slotted to advance/retard timing manually via distributor.

Maybe it was just my computer... my damn wsftp wasn't working properly either.
I had some jackass tell me he ran a 200 shot on a stock block jdmh22a as well. The funny thing is these kids think they are impressing us when under our breaths we are laughing our ********* off.

get a f22 w/ iron sleeves...do a f22/vtec conversion...and boost away...not to mention the longer stoke will help get youyr car up and moving...and then rip into boost!
