big shaft 60-1 has a inducer of 2.524 and a major of 3.00
t61 has a inducer of 2.4 and a major of 3.540
about a 1/2 inch of major wheel diamter
the 60-1 will run out of its peak effiency at 1 bar of boost at 45lbs of air
where as the t61 will be at 2 bar of boost at 55lbs of air
not saying that either one wont make more boost that is just the limit of the peak effeincy
thanks in advance</TD></TR></TABLE>

the t61 will flow more air so it will ahve more hp potential and as far as spool goes that really depends on what turbine housing you are using

Are you sure about that????!!
On race gas (the top numbers) was well beyond 1.0 bar. And BTW, this is from the little guy 60-1 hifi.

yes i am im not saying that the 60-1 wont make more than 1 bar but will be out of its peak eff ring on it map *** seen below on its map see the middle ring, thats its peak eff. noew look at the pr ratio and 2.0 is 1 bar at the top of the center ring, so yes i am sure

Re: what's the difference between a big shaft garrett 60-1 and T61? (b18cls1)
Thanks guys for all the responses, it's help out a lot! To make it more confusing, is ther a big difference between a small and big shaft turbo? And as far as the T61, are there ones better than the other? Due to so many companies making a variation of that turbo such as Precision, Garrett, Innovative, and etc... Again, I can't really ask if which one is the "best" because it all depends on my setup. But why would one company be preferred over the other?

Also, keep in mind the 60-1 uses 7 blades on the compressor wheel where the t61 uses only 6.

from the archives, i started a discussion about the 60-1. most agreed that the turbonetics map is not the true 60-1 map.
