wHAT's the cheapest way to get into a Turbo Setup for a DelSol B16 ?
I wanna turbo my b16 delsol..... but not sure whats the minimum I need to do it.(and keep my A/c, gotta have that here in texas)
So kits offer different stuff......I just want a simple easy setup that I can do at home that's not real hard to do also.
I seen some kits on ebay for $350-1600
Is it possible to get it a turn key setup for 500 or less ???
advice please.

dont buy a kit off ebay. just piece together your own kit, taking your sweet time to buy every part seperatly. there is no rush

If this is your budget, you arent going to get a very fast or reliable setup. Its going to be a cheap setup. I wouldnt risk doing this.

if you dont have AT LEAST a 1000 to play with, you can FORGET turbo period.
A decent custom-piece-by-piece-set-up will run you anywhere from 1200-3,000 including the turbo and some sort of fuel management.
u're trying to do it with 500? you might as well look into nitrous cuz a turbo aint happenin.

Re: wHAT's the cheapest way to get into a Turbo Setup for a DelSol B16 ? (SOLtrain)
so your saying that a 500 dollar turbo kit ain't worth it huh ?
being that a 1200+ kit will give me 60-80 extra HP.....
Shouldn't a 500 dollar kit be worth atleast 30-40 extra HP ???
hell, 30 HP would set me at about 200 HP......that would be pretty nice I think, for me anyways.

I think you're misunderstanding.
its not like a 500 dollar kit will give u 40 hp while a 3 thousand dollar kit will give you 120.
when you run turbo, you have to consider fuel management, which simply put, keeps ur motor from going BOOM.
fuel management and tuning is how you REALLY make power with a turbo. its not just about slapping it on.
there is NO possible way to do a turbo set up for 500 dollars. NO POSSIBLE WAY.
I had a friend buy a ebay turbo kit recently,he bought it for 1100 I think, and didnt have any problems with it,BUT he upgraded the injectors and tuned it,so when it was all said and done he spent 1700-2000ish.
look into nitrous, you can buy a used nitrous kit for a couple of hundred bucks and squeeze out your desired 40hp at will.

this isnt mathematics class. just because you divide the price by two, doesnt mean you can divide the hp by two. you wont be able to buy an entire kit for 500. the ones on ebay carry only the bare essentials of a turbo. its not the complete kit. just go with nitrous if you want 30-75 hp. its cheaper than 500

Is your engine only worth $500 to you? If you don't do it right you may be sourcing a new B16. Trust the people on this board, take your time and get the best parts you can afford. You can't even get a good turbo for $500 let alone a whole kit. Not trying to dash your hopes, just trying to give sound advice. Good luck.

If you're planning on something cheap and hopefully reliable, look into either a good tuner or, for something really cheap, buy a WB02, read up on pgmfi.org and tune yourself with Uber/Crome. An untuned turbocharged B16 is a timebomb waiting to go off.

Re: wHAT's the cheapest way to get into a Turbo Setup for a DelSol B16 ? (Oyvind Ryeng)
since you didnt mention reliability you might aswell get an ssac kit
seriously take your time and piece together a kit, buy parts as u get the money, u dont have to buy the whole kit all at once.
cheap= unreliable car and unreliable power.
nitrous will end up costing you more than a turbo setup because u will have to refill the bottle over and over again and also the power isnt there all the time like turbo because u have to keep refilling the bottle for the power to be there.

correct engine management will cost you 600 at least. my new set up will cost me bettween 1200-1600 including management, I just took my time to find the right deals. The most expensive part, the turbo I anly paid 175 new for it . sc61, better than a crack head price Brand new!. those run 800, I just have a friend who could car less about $ . Be patient and find the perfect deals people get desprate

no way in hell will you build a turbo kit for $500. $1000 is already pushing it for a bunch of ghetto rigged home made stuff.

Then turbo is probably not for you.. Look into nitrous if you dont want to spend more that $500..

Re: wHAT's the cheapest way to get into a Turbo Setup for a DelSol B16 ? (PM-Performance)
so basically.....the key is tuning...
Can I get a tuning program or something for my 94 delsol B16 to do it myself ?
Or can this only be done at the dyno ?

I would not advise tuning a turbo setup yourself if you have never seen it done or dont know what your doing really well.
Whats your budget? Im boing the same as you right now, only on a b18b1, I have about 2200 to spend.
