Whats the best way to have this seal well?
Should i put some nylon washers on it and just tighten it down alot? Any ideas on what to tighen it down to? its for the pan if anyone is still wondering.

I used special gaskets made by a local rubber shop, that are made to seal submerged in oil. So I have one on both sides they were small enough in the center that I had to thread the fitting through, and the are about 1" around.
To tighten I just cranked it down till I could turn it no more, and also used red locktite. No you may think that with it that tight that the gasket would be distorted, but thats the nice thing, the gasket is very hard yet soft....Its a weird material....

you cound just dab on some high temp liquid gasket. I did on my fiting (its diff. then that) and no problems yet.

talking about sealing the fitting to the pan itself, not about the threads themselves letting oil through. and i used to live right by ramstein.

i would braze it onto the oil pan but thats just me.. with my luck somehow that nut would manage to come off and tear up my motor

Those strato-seals are sweet. But I understand you'de like to get that on ASAP. What would I do?
Cut the hole in the oilpan to the smallest tolerance possible, then put a single tack weld on the fittings to the pan, then JBWELD THE SUCKER ON!

just make sure the hole is not too big,get it as close to the size of the fitting as possable,then put some rtc gasket maker on it(both sides) and tighten it up.it will hold with no probelms.the fittings them self,if tightened tight enough would hold hold it with out any thing on it.the oil pan is so thin that that fitting will compress and seal,just add the rtv for that extra security.
