Default whats the best thicker than stock headgasket???

ive gotta mill my head again and am starting to get worried about raised compression and piston to valve clearance issues. whats the best thicker headgasket to use? ive heard enough mixed reviews about cometic that im skeptical. my motor is an 84mm bore btw. thank you

Running a Cometic headgasket, and haven't had any problems with it in the past.

doesn't cometic recommend not using copper spray on their headgaskets?

from the cometic website

Why does Cometic recommend MLS gaskets to be installed dry?

Cometic Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gaskets go on dry because they are coated with a sealant. Each MLS head gasket is coated with a .001" thick viton rubber that is bonded to the outer stainless steel layers. Adding an additional sealer can hinder the performance of an MLS head gasket.

Can MLS head gaskets be used with motors setup with o-rings or receiver grooves around the cylinder bores?

No. MLS head gaskets require smooth, flat and true head and deck surfaces to seal. Most of the time with o-ring setups the wire and groove fall where our gasket’s combustion seal is located; therefore, the wire will hold the gasket and not allow proper compression while the receiver grooves allow combustion gases to escape.

I just pulled one of the .074 Cometics off the shelf and took a look at it. It has four layers. The outers appear to be standard, while the inners are much thicker than the inner layer on one of their .036 gaskets.

Hope that helps,

Craig

did you have any issues with it sealing? i really dont want to have like 5 layers of headgasket loose the seal between

i know like on volkswagon they make a spacer that goes in with a headgasket for vr6's
