Re: whats the bes gt sereis turbo for a b16a engine!!! (b18sihatch)
i think the 28r would make more 300-350 hp then 350-400 ... with the 28rs 400 flywheel seems possible when you squeze everything out of it... 400whp is realy hard on a 28rs...
but for the fun and if you don't want a dyno queen it's a very good turbo for the b16

The 28rs is a great street turbo, but for drag racing, it's going to be a little weak. Definently look into the 3076r or 35r

I think for a 1.6L the gt3076r Is PERFECT
1.8-2.0 The gt35r is a sweet spot.
In my opinion the 35r might be over kill for your power goals especially on the 1.6l

What kind of numbers is a 35r good for? It would be a sleeved B16.
Also, what are his power goals anyway? I didn't see it in the thread..

You don't want to "max" out a turbocharger. Its not good for it. Its a good way of damaging it.

Sounds like a 30r and some laughing gas might be a nice match to get to and through the 500hp range.
Since the ratings are based off of boost pressures and efficiency, if the motor can make more power without the turbo in place, it shouldn't matter what the HP number is so long as the boost the turbo is making isn't outside of the efficiency window...... right?

if a gt3076 .63 isnt that bad i wonder how it would be with the next size...gt35r .63. it would move a lot more air.

I thought about that too, but i decided to go with the -13 Cartridge on the 3076R, which is not too far from a 35 from what i have been told. Powerband is awesome too!
