What works with BSPT fittings? Help please.
From what I have read the oil pressure sender on the block uses a 1/8" BSPT thread. I need this to go to a -4an line, and then the -4an line needs to go to a 1/8" bspt male.
Is there anyother type of thread that will work with the BSPT.
I see things called Pipe Thread to AN adaptors, but I am not sure if this is the same things as what I need...BSPT to AN. Would NPT or something work?

The BSPT fitting you can get in a Sunpro brass fitting kit for $4.99 from AutoZone. I forget the exact part number..........

...or you could just tap the hole for 1/8" NPT. That's what I did.

Problem is, I have never tapped anything before.
Hehe, just felt like being stupid.
Tapping isn't an art or anything. Get the tap, put a little grease on it to catch the metal shavings. Run it in, pull it out (hehe)...and you're done

LOL. I knew something like that was going to be said! Thats why I left the little face at the end of my post.
I may have to try the tapping route, although that still leaves me with the problem of getting an adaptor to go from the -4an female to the 1/8" bspt male brass fitting.

Here is a link to show you what I need.(I think)
I am assuming the male connector of the T in the pics is 1/8" bspt, because that is what is designed to go into the block.
I am also assuming the adaptor is -4an to 1/8" bspt because it fits fine in both of the holes in the T, and one of the holes has to be the oil pressure sender, which is 1/8" bspt.

I checked out the pics. I had a T just like that. It was BSPT male thread, BUT the two females (hehe) were both NPT. I actually haven't seen a complete BSPT T. May I make a suggestion, though. I wouldn't recommend putting a T into the block. I had a friend and know a few people who have cracked the block at that location due to the weight of the whole assembly and vibration. You'd be better off going with a remote T set up similar to this...
(thanks for the pic Gary)
This way you you'd tap the block for 1/8" NPT. It would go 1)1/8"NPT male to -4AN male adapter 2)female -4AN fitting 3)SS line 4)female -4AN fitting 5)1/8"NPT male to -4AN male adapter 6)1/8'NPT all female "T" 7a) oil pressure switch off one part of the T 7b) repeat 1-5 to go to the turbo.

Re: What works with BSPT fittings? Help please. (Mad HXMan)
My setup goes like this:
from the block --
1/8" BSPT male/male union
since male BSPT threads go into a female NPT opening just fine, i then have a 1/8" NPT female/female union
next i have a 1/8"NPT to -3AN adapter (and you can get a 1/8" NPT to -4AN adapter)
-3 SS line with -3AN ends (bought pre-assembled etc)
-3AN to 1/8" NPT adapter
3x female 1/8" NPT Tee
etc etc..
alternatively you can get the 1/8" NPT female to 1/8" BSPT male adapter, and then stick the NPT/AN adapter into that.

I am not putting the T on the block. I am running off the block with a -4an line. I think if I just get 2 -4an to 1/8bspt I should be fine.

Re: What works with BSPT fittings? Help please. (Mad HXMan)
I used a 1/8" NPT to -4AN adapter in the block, then ran a -4 line to a tee on the firewall. The tee on the left has 2 male -4AN, which I used to connect to the block and to the turbo oil feed. The 3rd connection was 1/8" NPT which connected to the other tee, which is all NPT. The factory oil sending unit connects there, and I capped off the last one, which I thought I'd use for an oil pressure gauge if the sending unit will fit in there.

Re: What works with BSPT fittings? Help please. (Giuseppe)
I dunno if this helps at all, but just so you guys know, -AN fittings are completely compatible with brass flare fittings you can get at any home depot. So if you get the sunpro kit which includes a BPST to 1/8" NPT adapter, then all you need is a Home Depot 1/8" NPT to flare adapter that you can screw your AN hose onto. Likewise then you can use home depot 1/8" NPT tees to connect everything together. You can save a LOT of money doing it this way instead of mail ordering all your fittings from race shops.

im just going to use the greddy oil filter sandwich adapter, then a z10 bspt to npt adapter, 1/8 npt to 4an adapter and that to my oil feed, easy as 1-2-3.

Re: What works with BSPT fittings? Help please. (DSF)
I imagine it could theoretically electrolyze but this only happens in contact with moist air or water, so the oil on the contact surfaces is probably enough to protect it; if not then some teflon pipe thread compound would suffice. I had a brass tee threaded into my aluminum block for at least a year and when it came out I saw no evidence of corrosion whatsoever.
