What to use to make a baffle inside the valve cover without welding?
hey guys i put my ports for the oil catch can on my F22a6 SOHC valve cover on a part that is NOT baffled (see pic), now some people have told me i wont get a lot of oil in the can, they said probably empty it once a week. Which i can deal with, but i had an idea, IF i have enough room, why cant i make my own baffle right behind the 2 ports, just completely enclose the hole on the inside with some sheet metal, and than drill a couple holes on the very top. Or enclose the bottom and sides and leave the top open.
Now the problem is my valve cover is already powder coated, so what can i use to secure the sheet metal to the valve cover? I cant weld. Can i use JB weld or does the vc get way too hot? I dont want the adhesion failing and losing this metal enclousure in my valvetrain
At first im gonna try and see how often the can gets full, i dont mind emptying it and puttin fresh oil in, nothing wrong with that

use pop rivets. on the b series its got that baffle that runs around the top. so its easy to tie into that, then you wont have to worry about any external leaking. not sure if your valvecover has something similar ?

make a sheet metal baffle.
pop-rivit it to the existing baffle, not that hard!

exactly, make a baffle however you prefer, at the top of the baffle where it meets the other internal baffle, you will need to have an L shape, the long side of the L is your baffle, then you drill/pop rivet the short side of the L to the internal baffle.

hey guys, here is what i came up with, it seems like its spitting oil out still tho, i didnt wanna make a box cause i thought air would have a hard time escaping. What do you think?

imo, that is too close to the fitting. kinda like when you put your finger over the end of the garden hose, it sprays water like crazy... i would make one long baffle and further away from the fitting inlets, if you have clearance inside the head

dont have any extra clearance inside the head really.....it seems like the air is comming out of it well. I will try this setup and see what happens, if the cans gets too full too quick no good, and if the oil dipstick shoots out no good
