What turbo would you recommend for the following custom setup?...
I drive a 2000 si. My goal is anything over 300 whp, my car will be daily driven with stock internals, and I would prefer that the turbo be under $800 with full spool around 4-4,500rpm.
Thank you for your input!
Custom Welded Piping
550cc injectors
Honda S300
GSR Cams
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
Moroso Oil Pan w/STEEL BRAIDED oil return line
Lovefab shorty ps/ac
tial 38mm ext wastegate
Greddy Type RS BOV
3 inch downpipe and exhaust
AEM Adjustable CAM gears
AEM Pulleys
AEM Fuel Rail
And a very good tune @ 10.5psi

you can get a gt28rs for like 950 i believe.. not much over your prefered price. Its a very nice turbo, That's what I plan on upgrading to later on, if not somethin a little bigger.

its good for around 350. yes its ball bearing.
how much power are you looking to make?
Theres also a GT3255E which is good up closer to the 400 range, but i dont know if its ball bearing, and im not 100% sure when it spools up, but ive read that a lot of people like to use that as well. Its a bit cheaper too

Yeah, I'll probably go with the GT28rs...my real goal is about 320whp. I was thinking about getting a bigger turbo IN CASE I want to upgrade, but I really just wanted to max the efficiency and potential of my EM1 while keeping stock internals. Thanks for your advice!
I'm also open to any other suggestions if there are any other turbos up to par with this GT28.

Re: (EM-One)
GT28RS is a good choice, you can use exhaust .63 for faster spoolup or .86 for more high end, with .64 it starts to spoll at 2k and reach 7.5psi at 3.2k. If you intend to use more pressure and hps use one like mine a Gt2871R with the same exhausts options, same external size as G28RS but with larger internals. In my car with a .60/.86 it starts to spool at 2.5k and reach 7.5psi (my max pressure) at 4k. This is my exerience with these 2 turbos.

Personally, I wouldn't spend the money on that small ball bearing turbo. Instead, I would look into the precision sc34 57 trim...bigger turbo, a few hundred less, and suffer from a slightly more lag (couple hundred rpm or so). Maybe you have deeper pockets.

Yeah, I've heard that Precision makes some good turbos, and I KNOW that they are in my price range. What I'm looking for is a turbo that can reach full spool on or before NO MORE than 47-4800rpm between 7-10.5 psi. (That will be my low and high boost.)
Do you think that precision turbo will fit the bill? They're reliable right, b/c it's my daily! Thank you for your help!

Great info! Thanks for the insight on the Garrett! It will make my decision easier when the time comes. Good luck on your build, gorpobr!
