What Turbo Do I have?! Help Please...

Ok, So I bought this turbo on Ebay and the guy selling it said it was a GT3271 model Garrett.

I made and exhaust flange for the turbine housing and when I went to put it on, it was waaay too small... Not even close... So I am questioning if this is the right turbo all together...

Here is the garrett site for the GT3271:
http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...1_452203_1.htm

Here are the flange Specs for the GT3271 (100mm bolt circle = 3.94", M8x1.25 bolts):

Now.... on to my turbo...

Please let me know if any of you have any clue what so ever. Ill prolly try to contact a GARRETT distributor as well. Thx. Here are the pics:

If that was a real Garrett.. it would have the badge and it will say "honeywell" on it also..

that hotside is huge! good luck spoolin that thing!

This is why i stay off ebay for important parts

Edit: i think someone bought a ching change turbo, then switched the housings to garrett. that center section is def not garrett. The bolts holding the center section dont even look like the ones on the garrett.

you sure the id plate is gone ? .. it looks to me that it has been painted over with silver paint .. see if you can get that stuff off of the plate and what reveals under it

Real Garrett's are laser etched with serials with the honeywell name

after looking.. the paint on the inducer/exducer Appears to look correct with the paint markings.. so you might be in luck..IDK why the plate isnt etched

I have PERSONNALY dealt with 2 of those EXACT same turbos.

No real Garret, sorry. We sent it off to a Garrett dealer to get them rebuilt and they notified us that they are not genuine.

Ironically, ours was purchased from eBay, but they were not new. Who was the seller?

If you decide to ever buy a turbo off ebay, lets say they have a Garrett turbo on there for $900, go to the official website for Garrett and get the statistics for that particular turbo and email the seller of the turbo on ebay and ask him questions about it. Basically quiz him and if he gives you correct or pretty close to correct answers, well then the turbo might be legit.

What is there to bump? Thats not real its and its not feasible for your application. Thats something for a generator or a tractor.

Food for thought- you get what you pay for. I'd buy from a dealer next time. Some times you pay a little bit more for customer service and support in the long run.

Good luck
