what turbo for 15-20psi?
I am in the process of building up a d16z6 to handle some serious boost. Here is my question, what turbo would you guys recommend for 15-20psi? I wont have any head work or raised compression at the moment, but I want to get a turbo that would still be efficient if I decided to get that stuff done. I tried to find maps for some precision turbos but couldnt find any.....any help would be greatly appriciated.

Post your setup.
What kind of power goals do you have? 15-20 PSI on different turbos could yeild quite mixed results.
You want Precision? SC61? 63? I dunno I'm not an expert in the field.

Personally I think the sc61 with your set-up would be overkill given that you do not plan on doing any head porting.
You have to understand more boost does not always equal more power. If your motor cannot breathe then 20 pounds of boost isn't going to do ****.
As stated before, what is your whp goal?

with a sohc 1.6 i wouldn't go over a t3t4b turbo. my buddy has one of those on his d16 and he doesn't fully spool till 4800 rpm then he drops outta boost and vtec when he shifts. he's using 10 psi.

I really dont have a specific HP goal, maybe 300hp at the most (for the moment). It doesnt have to spool supper early, but I want some useable power.

You need to do a lot of searching before you start boosting your car.
1) Boost does not equal horsepower.
2) Boost does not equal horsepower.
3) Boost does not equal horsepower.
4) Boost does not equal horsepower.
5) Boost does not equal horsepower.
6) Your D stock D series head will not flow worth a ****, so pushing 20psi will not do anything. Combine that to a stock d series IM and throttle body and you will really be starving your motor for air. Sooner or later you will reach a point on the dyno where the motor will stop producing power reguardless of how much boost you are making.

Re: what turbo for 15-20psi? (genop)
ok, I plan to get head work done its just not at the top the list right now. I will run a lower boost level until my setup is complete, and then once the setup is complete I will turn the boost up. I dont want to have to upgrade the turbo once I get headwork done, I want to get something that will work with the completed setup.
