for all you guys who have gone through it? i'm getting closer and closer to a point where i'm gonna get tuned. all i have left is to install my victor x manifold, injectors, clutch and flywheel.

i'm gonna assume spark plugs, patience, and money. but should tires and wheels be a factor too?

you gonna need a few basic things

fuel, if race gas is run
spark plugs
distribtor cap rotor as spare
just some basic tools.
zip ties and hose clamps

just minor things is what you will need

make sure your car is running decent prior to the dyno. bring your car in good running shape therefore you not wasting time on the dyno

I would say the most important things would be a dyno machine and a tuner, but thats just me..

I think things to make sure you do before you go to the dyno, is set your base timing before you get there.. make sure your plugs are gapped correctly and your charge pipes aren't rigged.

There is nothing more annoying than blowing charge pipes on the dyno.

Also try not to have any exhaust leaks, if your dyno uses a tail pipe sniffer.

Even though i havnt got a car tuned on dyno id say cap,rotor,an spark plugs an race fuel just incase of anything.

Make sure your car has NO CEL!!!!!!!!!!!! at least the important ones. if its throwing like O2 sensor code then dont worry too much.
check everything before u get to the dyno: tighten all clamps, secure all vacuum lines, have nice clean oil that is filled to its correct capacity, set timing (a good tuner should check timing before tuning the car).
also have good plugs in the car and bring an extra set.
If ur having the car tuned by someone using crome,uberdata,etc. that person will more than likely use his/her own wideband. Make sure u have an O2 bung and also make sure ur stock O2 sensor can come off very easily. it sucks being stuck under a car try n to get O2 sensors out.

when I dynoed my car the guy wind the windows up.

you have roll your windows up because there's less drag on the car.....its sitting still, but drag kills power

Actually i've never heard that, i'm interested in the reasoning...maybe the noise?

yea that too, also, you would want the wind from the fan blowing air on ur intercooler to get inside the car, and remove any carbon monoxide? that could be detrimental to the person inside the car...hehe...maybe they will pass out and lose control of the car, which is tied down to the knitties, would suck if a 400whp car got turned loose in a garage thats less than 100x100, thats not enough stopping distance!!! lol, i crack myself up!

dyno brake cable is usually run through the window.

main thing is make sure the car is running good before hand. tuning will not fix the fact that your car is running bad because your timing belt is off 3 teeth. beleive it or not ive had 3 differnt people bring me cars that the timing belt was off.

most importantly if there is ANYTHING that might not be perfect about your set up...or something suspicious.....let whoever is tuning the car know about it before hand. that can save you a lot of money.

anyways, i have a couple sets of spark plugs (8's and 9's), i'll probably get a rotor or two (unless i run my msd setup), and i'm hoping i won't blow any hoses or clamps. but i'll try to get some if im at the hardware store or something.

my other question would be DO TIRES MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
