What is the smallest turbo for a stock H22 that won't fall off up top...250-300whp
I need to find a nice medium sized turbo that is under $600, will spool up fast and not fall off up top. I'de like to see 8psi by 4 grand. A broad powerband is paramount. High horsepower is not because we are keeping a stock H22 block with just slightly oversized valves (+0.5mm). Exhaust will be 2.5" all the way back. Open WG dump. AFC hack and intank.
Would the Garrett T3/To4E with a stage 3, .82 A/R turbine and a 60 trim, .60 A/R compressor fit the bill? Would a .63 A/R tubine housing cause it to fall off up top too bad?

I'm still seaching for a turbo for my h22a1, but I belive that this turbo your are specifing is a little large for the h22. But I only plan to have 330 whp. so the trim people have recomended to me is about 50.

I would go with the .63 A/R, since anything above that will induce more lag. Or you might even want to take it another step down in A/R size since you're only shooting for 300whp.

If you want 300whp I would look into running a t3/t04e with a 50 compressor trim and a .48 a/r. The spool times will be very fast with this turbo. With proper EMS you should be able to hit this around 14psi on a stock motor.

no go with a t3/t04e 57trim with a .82 turbine
PrecisionH23a have you ever drove a h22 with a .48 turbine ,it will not make any power pass vtec

.82 a/r? Can you say overkill with extreme amounts of lag? He wanted to know the smallest turbo to hit 300whp, and a 50/.48 is the smallest one. He also wanted a broad powerband, going with a .82a/r is not going to give the worlds best powerband and I doubt he will see 8psi by 4000rpms.
Personally I would go with a 57 comp and .63 a/r, but he quoted the smallest turbo possible. I actually have riden in an h22a with a 50/.48, the owner claimed to put out 260ish whp at 7psi and it seemed to pull just fine in vtec. Maybe you have some information that I have not seen. Feel free to share it

T3/T04E (60 Trim with .63 A/R Turbine). Cheap turbo said it would hit 8 lbs. by 4200 at the latest. They guessed more around 3700 with my 10.6 compression. And it definately won't fall off in the top end either.

You guys are just throwing around turbine A/Rs, should I assume you are all talking about the ever popular stage 3 wheels? A .48 A/R turbine housing with a regular (stg 1?)wheel and a stg 5 are VERY different animals... fill me in.
Now i'm thinking 57 trim, .60 a/r comp and stg III, .63 a/r turbine. good for the goals I laid out? I see people with this turbo on b18s a lot but I hope it spools a little bit sooner on the H but with simular top end.

60 trim, .60 a/r comp and stg III, .63 a/r turbine ($550) This is the exact turbo I have for my H22 setup. The 57 trim will be OK also, just flow a little less.
Did you check out the link I provided? It gave these exact specs. Of course a H22 will spool this turbo sooner then a B18, more displacement=more exhaust gas=faster spool. One more time on the link...
