What size injectors to use on my turbo lude...want 500whp
okay i've ditched my old turbo setup and am coming out with a NEW setup for this summer...here are most of my mods...
Turbo Setup:
- Garrett GT30 Dual Ball-Bearing Turbocharger
- Tial 46mm Wastegate
- Tial Blow-off Valve
- Spearco Air/Liquid Intercooler
- Dual Flex-a-lite Oil Coolers used as Radiator for Air/Liquid Intercooler
- ITT Jabsco Water Pump for Air/Liquid Intercooler
- Custom Stainless Steel Equal Length Manifold
- Custom 4" Stainless Steel Air Intake
- Custom 2.5" Stainless Steel IC Piping
Engine Block:
- Endyn/Wiseco Rollerwave Pistons
- 90mm (3mm overbore)
- Thermal and Anti-Friction Coated
- Pauter Chromoly Steel X-Beam Rods
- Knife-edged and Polished Crank
- Balance Shafts removed

Engine Head:
- Ferrea Stainless Steel Valves
- 1mm Oversized
- Crower Dual Valve Springs
- Crower Titanium Retainers
- Race Port and Polish
- STR Intake Manifold
- AEM Cam Gears
Fuel:
- Paxton Fuel Pressure Regulator
- Bosch/Endyn 750HP Fuel Pump
- STR Fuel Rail Modified for Dual Feed
- Russell Inline Fuel Filter
Ignition:
- MSD 7AL-2
- MSD Pro Power HVC Coil
- MSD Launch Control
Engine Management:
- AEM EMS
- HKS EVC 3
Misc:
- Quaife ATB Differential
- ACT Xtreme Pressure Plate
- ACT Xtreme 6 Puck Disc
- Custom 3" Stainless Steel Downpipe
- Custom 3" Stainless Steel Exhaust
- Driveshaft Shop Stage 3 Chromoly Driveshafts
- 15x8 Bogart Drag-on Fly Stars
- 15" Mickey Thompson Wrinkle-wall Drag Slicks
- Flex-a-lite Oil Cooler
- FAL 12" Dual Fans
Now...i need to know what size injectors to get...and what company!
Are injectors injectors? or is one brand better than the other...
i was thinking 96lbs MSD ones but i'm not sure if they're any good...or if they'll fit perfectly. all i know is that they're half the price of RC's....
is this a good size? or is it overkill...i want 500whp.

No offense to your dreams and such, but unless you are going full race why do you want 500whp? I really dont see the point in getting 500whp. With 300-400whp in a street honda is more than enough to beat 95-98% of the cars out there.
Maybe its because Im old and I only have 277whp. Our race car is over 600whp and I cant imagine driving that thing on the street...
But follow your dream and dont let anyone get in the way of them, but man 500whp is alot...

If you know as much about the parts you just listed then you should know what injectors and size to use.

Re: What size injectors to use on my turbo lude...want 500whp (ekb18c)
okay...i want 500whp because i want to break certain times. I know of two preludes that are turbocharged and they dyno'd at around 400 HP...both are hitting low 12's high 11's...you have to realize that my prelude weighs almost 3000 lbs and big HP is what i think i need to achieve my desired times.
ekb18c: if you wanna say something come right out and say it...why should i KNOW what injectors i'm going to use based on the parts i've chosen? First of all...i have an injector size in mind...but i wanted peoples opinion of whether or not they'd be overkill...or if anyone suggests a lower sized injector that will still help me achieve my goal. i figure with a comment like yours...you must have a lot of technical knowledge...well why don't you help me out then instead of being an ***? if you don't like the way i posted my mods then you can kiss my ***...i actually thought twice about posting it all too...but i figured with a topic title like mine i'd be asked what i had done...this way it's all said and done...and perhaps someone could help me out based on the info i provide...

At least 720cc, although with 500hp you are probably going to max those out. 900cc is the way to go, you will be guaranteed to run lower duty cycles. Try denso, i have seen 900-1000cc injectors for a set of 4 run 800.00 on the internet. I picked up a set of 720cc denso's from http://www.roadraceengineering.com for 450.00 with the o-ring pack. I dont know what the aem ems capability for injector size is, you might want to look into that before you run some monster size injectors.

Re: What size injectors to use on my turbo lude...want 500whp (boosted hybrid)
thank you. i ran the rc engineering formula on their website and they recommended a 1000+ cc injector =P was just making sure that this was correct and that someone else recommended that too.
I've never tried Denso injectors...any good? Best prices i've found are $94/each for MSD 96lbs...and $150/each for RC's. Other than name...are there major differences between the brands?

RC are lucas disc type which can run at higher duty cycles (95% consistently). I dont know what the MSD brand injectors are, but i have heard good things about them, although fitment isnt supposed to be great...again not first hand experience just what i have read and talk to ppl. I like my denso's, they are quality injectors, OEM honda manufactuer for injectors, so they have a proven track record for reliablity. I would go with the MSD for the price though, you cant beat that price on big *** injectors!

Re: What size injectors to use on my turbo lude...want 500whp (kidkutz)
My question is: Which GT30 turbo are you planning to use for 500whp? SR20DET users in Japan use HKS/Garrett Japan GT3240 or GT3540 turbos for that HP level. Boost levels range from 1.3bar to 1.7 bar depending on the compression, head port, and cam profile. The GT3240 is nothing more than a T04S(60-1) BB and the GT3540 is a T04R(62-1) BB turbo. There are many trims and compressors available for both turbos.
The RC engineering calculator isn't always correct but you will need atleast 850cc injectors for that HP level. I know this because 720cc's on SR20DET's are usually running the ragged edge(85%~90%) at the 450~470hp level.

96lbs is a good size. One problem i did see was that you didn't list if you changed your fuel lines. You should get yourself -10 lines.
Oh btw, Excellent choice on turbo. The garrett gt30 is a sick turbo. You will easily make 500+hp. if everything is setup and tuned properly don't be surprised if you pull over 600.

Re: What size injectors to use on my turbo lude...want 500whp (kidkutz)
i personally suggest going with the 1000cc rc injectors to be on the safe side. or even run 55 to 75 cc primiary injectors and then have the 1000cc for secondarys. it all depends on what type of fuel system you prefer running. but i wont use the aem ems, go wiht the haltech ek6 or the motec m4pro. and i also suggest that you change your fuel lines as well to at least a -10 fuel feed line to have the proper volume of fuel reaching the rail.

Re: What size injectors to use on my turbo lude...want 500whp (RCSIVTEC)
this is gonna be a street car? Perhaps I missed that somewhere....
But 500whp is a LOT. I've driven 350whp in a hatch that ran 11's...OMG you'll never use that power. But, if you've got your mind set on it...
I would really recommend using a staged injection. When you need that much fuel, using a standard set of 4 injectors is going to lead to idling problems, and serious fuel consumption issues. Using a staged injection, you can use 440cc primaries, and 550cc secondaries, and still maintain drivability with all the fuel you'd need for big hp. It's a PITA to tune, expensive to setup, but if you get it right, it works well. I would recommend a massive pump (Weldon), -10 lines and fittings (big $$$), and a GREAT tuner. It's going to be quite the task.

Re: What size injectors to use on my turbo lude...want 500whp (VaporTrail)
The GT30 that i have has an 0.70 A/R 56 trim compressor side ...and 0.82 A/R 84 trim turbine Side. Is there any way to attach a picture? i have a comparison pic of my old T3/T4 and my GT30 side-by-side.
You recommend -10 huh? I was going to go with -8...you guys don't think it will be enough?

We were able to support 524 whp on an SR20DE motor with MSD 72 lb/hr injectors. Factory fuel pressure (3 Bar) was set.

Re: What size injectors to use on my turbo lude...want 500whp (kidkutz)
the RC claculation - did you increase the uel pressure?? lets say it told you you need 1000cc at 43.5PSIG, run your pressure up say 1:1 per lbs of boost and you may only need 900cc at 63.5PSI and 20lbs of boost - just an example. If you need big injectors in Toronto I can get em cheap e-mail me.

ok...injectors hovering around 1000cc seems to be the general advice. and FYI...these aren't parts i'm planning to buy...i OWN 95% of them. I only lack the valve train, intercooler, and fuel injectors.

The turbo that you selected is a GT3240 or the largest member of the GT30 family.
720cc injectors can support 500whp but at 90%-100% duty cycle and at static fuel psi above 65psi.
