Default What should I use for my new block

Ok I have 2 options.

b18a and do a ls/vtec turbo. I have a ls block in my buddies polebarn. Problem is I don't know whats missing or even if its usable. I havn't seen it in more then a year. I know it has some surface rust on the cly walls and don't how much. The main thing I'm concerned with is revvability. With eagle rods and Cp pistons you think a 8200-8500 rev limit is no problem?

Or

Find a gsr block and do poor mans R. I like this idea because I don't need to run oil lines to the head and all that. But I'll have to find a block here in the next couple days and get it in my car asap because its got a hole in the piston now.

My main concern is reliability. I want somthing that will be able to take 350-400whp as a daily and not have to worry about it that much. It'll have eagle rods and 9:1 CR Cp pistons.

Answer is clear.. You already have the LS block.. Just get a lite hone on it and get the piston to wall clearances checked and youll be fine..

The LS rod bolts are the weak link and youll fix that with aftermarket rods.. The bottom end is plenty strong enought for 8500 revs.. I plan to rev mine to 9K.. Just make sure you have the valvetrain for it..

I turn my LS-crank motor to 9000 RPM's no problems, although I'm on Manley rods. I'd have no qualms spinning it that high on eagles, however. Don't be so concerned with the stroke of the cranks and the rod/stroke ratio effecting how high the motor wants to rev, because they are very similar and you are going to be limited by the head flow and turbine flow as to how high you can rev long before an 89mm crank is going to give you some huge imbalance issues at high RPM's.

cool solves my problem. I just wanted something that could rev to what my b16 could just so I could keep the same kind of speed and what not with my tranny. I guess question anwsered. I'll go order some parts now
A pole barn is just a extra building I guess thats how I always known it. Heh I live in the boonies.

Oh yeah would my b16 oil pan fit this ls block so I can just swap em over?
