what is the rule of thumb for adjusting cam gears? i know it is where you want your overlap. is there a set method of doing this? or is there a god all mighty spec adv/ret for the gsr cam gears for a boosted application? or if there is a tutorial? any information will be greatly appreciated.

Every car responds a little different. Over the years, I've had Skunk2's, Integra Type R's, Toda A's, and EF-1's cams.
The EF-1s were the only real oddballs in the group. They made power by having BOTH cams retarded. Todas and Skunks liked both cams advanced. Integra Type R's liked the intake advanced and the exhaust retarded.
I always start with the intake cam (advancing it). The only thing you have to watch out for is that when you play with the intake cam timing, it alters the ignition timing. Make sure you set the timing back.

Borrow one or cut valve cover so you can access the cam gears without having to take the cover off.
Then take it to the dyno for tuning. You can not effectively tune cam gears by butt-dyno.
As already said, every set-up is different.

i have access to a dyno, what i am asking, is when it is bolted to the dynapac, is there a method, start with +2-2 and go from there? start with the intake first? start with the exh first? how much to start with and that sort of thing. i have heard +2-2 was a good starting point but cant remember if it is +2i intake and -2 exh or vice versa.
