What psi does a stock evo 16g wastegate open at?
I'm getting a good deal on one for my turbo f22a1 accord project so good a deal I have to buy it anyway. But *L* I hope it doesn't open at like 19 psi or something.
I have one more question. Would it be retarded to buy forged pistons and just run stock rods? It seems to me like the stock ringlands are the weakest link.
My only goal is to put this together as good as I can with the best parts I can afford.
I want to run like 12 psi and just see what numbers I get.

Are you sure it's not 19 psi with the factory electronic boost controler?
If I have to I guess I will mod the wastegate acuator.

Re: (redzcstandardhatch)
Yeah my guess is they have a boost controller pushing it to 19. Mechanicaly I'm thinking around 12ish. I hope because I would hate to have to mod it.

Evo Turbo
The US Evolutions do spike to 19psi in the midrange, but only hold to 16 or so as a safety measure, so I would say the wastegate on those is probably set much lower than 19. The boost is controlled mostly by the ECU.
What you didn't mention is what year Evo turbo you have. There have been numerous different turbos mounted on evos, and every evo has had some variation of the 16g since they began being manufactured. The first 3 Evolutions had 11psi springs on the wastegates, so it's important that you know what year the turbo came from.
