Default what oil to use with new turbo and fresh build up

running wiseco 9:1's and pauter rods in my B16. all new bearings and gaskets.
1.) I have heard that I should not run boost until the first 500-1000 miles of the break in are over. what do you guys think of this????

2.) I know I have to use normal oil but what weight shoulf I be using. also there has been some debate about what honda recommends for B series motors. after the break-in should I use 5-30 or 10-30??

You want to run a Non Detergent Non Synthetic 30w Oil! Kendall Oil is one of the better non detergent oils available!

Here is a link! Hope this helps!

why would you not use synthetic? As far as I know, every body switches to synthetic. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

You need to have the rings set! Synthetic oil is not good for break in! That is why most people switch to synthetic after the motor has so many miles.

It isn't a dumb question! It is dumb not to ask if you don't know and to find out the hard way!

i dont think running ND oil is of any benefit. i've done it in the past and the #'s didn't come out any better compared to regular oil, but i guess it can't hurt either. also for anyone who's confused ND oil is for the break in only.

i think frequently changing your oil with regular oil like 1500 mile intervals is better than changing synthetic every 3000.

i did the synthetic thing every 3000 miles for about 2-3 years.... and after awhile you get lazy & cheap and start changing the synthetic maybe at 6000... and don't say that that won't happen to you.

non detergent oil for the first 200 miles. synthetic after that. run the crap out of it if the motor was built right she"ll hold together

when first breaking it, set the timing check for leaks then go make several runs to redline and leave the car in gear and let off the throttle and let it come all the way down the Rs. that helps seat the rings by pulling a hard vacuum and bathing them with oil as well. the redline run at first assures everything will hold together.
